Tenba 634-725 Overview

The black Air Case with Wheels from Tenba is designed to carry, ship, and protect the Apple 27" iMac and iMac Pro. With the standard iMac, this case is compatible with models made since October 2012, as well as the current Retina display models. In addition to holding iMac systems, this case can also fit a keyboard, mouse, and cables. The patended Air Case is strong enough to stand on, even when empty, and can withstand more than 400 pounds of weight on top.

Tenba's Air Case construction provides the protection of a hard case at a fraction of the weight. It is comprised of multiple layers that include a water-repellant ballistic nylon outer shell, air-channeled panels to disperse the shock from hits and drops, closed-cell foam to absorb any remaining shock and vibration, and a durable interior lining that will survive the gear being moved in and out of the case. Additionally, the corner-mounted wheels give it a wide, stable wheelbase and helps ensure that it is easy to move. The front of the case features an integrated shipping document window and identity/business card pockets.

Kind of Ideal

I've been flying around using this case for six years. It has lasted beautifully. I no longer use an iMacPro, now I use the Apple Studio monitor, and still safely put other gear in this case using my own cushioning.  All the cons mentioned are real; yes there are only two wheels but I have accepted that as a fact of life and have never had a problem, even in airports with it fully loaded. I always check it in oversize (which it is) covered with fragile notifications. On the few occasions that it has come back on the luggage belt with the rest of the luggage that was potentially thrown, it has protected my gear perfectly.  I can only say - if you expect it to be seriously abused, it isn't the best choice. In that case a real flight case is in order -- not just a hard shell case (I had an iMac damaged in one with luggage mishandling) but a serious one with the solid wood and heavy foam. But even standard luggage handling is okay with this case. I don't write reviews but I should report to anyone interested that six years of heavy travel hasn't hurt this case at all.

Works as advertised

Not a super sexy purchase but certainly protects a valuable investment while in transit. Would give it 5 stars if it was cheaper. Should last a long time, well built.

Would this fit the Apple Studio Display?
Asked by: Michael
No, the Tenba Air Case with Wheels for the 27" Apple iMac & iMac Pro (2012 and Later) was designed specifically for the older, thinner 27" iMac and is not a good fit for the Apple Studio Display.

question

I notice that the description is pretty specific as far as the iMac model that this accommodates Late 2012, thin model Apple 27 iMac desk computer - anyone know if it would work with a new 27 Thunderbolt Display?
Asked by: Anonymous
I have the first version of the 27 imac with retina display (purchased December 2015) and it fits perfectly. I'm not sure how my machine compares to the 27 thunderbolt display but I'm pretty sure you could move or otherwise manipulate the foam braces inside of the case if need be. Contact Tenba directly for further info.

yes, the new iMac Pro's fit perfectly in this. I have two of them and it's how I travel with them. Best protection there is.

question

Hey guys, im planning on taking my iMac from Ft. Lauderdale to South America o Jet Blue Airlines. Why should I spend almost $700 on this rather than just ship the computer on is original box, (brown) wrapped in plastic? Is this bag worth the $650 ? Can you remove the inserts and use it to carry something else in the future? Thank you very much for your time and responses.
Asked by: Ricardo C.
This case is designed for iMac owners who ship or fly with their machines often, such as photographers, filmmakers, designers, architects and trade show companies. The advantage is that it can be used many times over a period of years and still protect the machine, whereas the cardboard box will eventually wear out. The custom-fitted iMac inserts can be easily removed because they just velcro to the inside wall, sothe case can definitely be used to transport other gear. They are commonly used for 1x1 LED panels and other large, flat lights, as well as other photo and cine gear.

question

Getting ready to move to Scotland and trying to figure out if I should ship for $660 via UPS or get this and check it on the plane. Any advice? Thanks for the help.
Asked by: Haven S.
Sorry for the late reply. You may be gone already. I would check it on the plane. UPS is probably more expensive AND they once destroyed my case (as it was being delivered from BH). Absolutely crushed it, which I didn't even think was possible. Good luck!

question

Can you check this in as carry on?
Asked by: Romeo Lorenzo A.
Nah, this thing is a massive case for a massive iMac. The point of this case is that you can instead check it in to cargo and not worry about it. It's a REALLY strong and weather resistance case. My first flight with it was in the middle of a thunderstorm. I could see the case sitting in the rain from my window. Not a problem at all.
