Rycote 044901 Overview

From Manufacturer

This InVision Universal Microphone Shock Mount from Rycote provides a discreet, low-profile way to mount practically any microphone with a diameter of 18-55mm. The mount uses Rycote's patented "Lyre" suspension system, which does not use any runner or elastic components to isolate the mic. Instead, the unique shape gives the mount specific compliance to the mic to prevent handling noise from reaching the capsule.

The high-grade materials used in constructing the mount give it an exceptionally wide working temperature of -31°F to over 212°F (-35°C to 100°C), far exceeding the range of typical elastic or rubber shock mounts. The mount retains all of the flexibility, balance, and performance that you would expect from a Rycote suspension system.

Note:
This mount is designed for studio and installed use, and does not have the ability to be used in conjunction with a windshield.

Works great for LS-208 Mic

I bought this shock mount to see if I could improve the amount of vibrations of my desk getting into my audio. I have a less than ideal microphone setup with my Lauten Audio LS-208 microphone. That microphone comes with a shock mount, but the performance is pretty bad. It doesn't decouple the microphone enough and is very stiff. I noticed a pretty good improvement with this Rycote mount. It is just strong enough to hold the heavy LS-208 in a horizontal position without causing the inner section of the shock mount to hit the outer. Moving the microphone arm around shows that the microphone starts to float a bit and isn't too rigid. Recommended

What's the difference between this and the lite version?
Asked by: Phil C
The design is the same on both models. The standard ULM universal shock mount is slightly heavier and it can support a bit more weight than the ULM-L Lite version when it is mounted horizontally. Both shock mounts can support weight of up to 26.5 oz (750 g) when mounted vertically, but when mounted horizontally, the standard USM can support up to 17.6 oz (500 g) and the USM-L can support up to 14.1 oz (400 g).

question

What is the difference between this product and the licensed Cloud Microphones versionhttps://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1177574-REG/cloud_microphones_cloud_u1_universal_mount_cloud_u1_universal_shockmount.html and which should I buy for the RE20 or RE320? Both are indicated to be compatible via website info or pictures but I read on a forum that the Cloud version is bigger, which indicates more strength. The Rycote version is $80, the Cloud version is $150.
Asked by: Stephen D.
I could see this one working well for the RE-20. It was really designed for vertical hanging side address mics, but should work well. I use it with the MikTek CV3. It is really well made and was much stronger than the factory mount I received. A+ for this one. I'm not familiar with the Cloud version, but I do love this one.
