The Don Zeck Lens Cap is unique in the world of lens accessories. It is the first lens cap designed with an ergonomic handle to help you both place and remove the cap. The advantage of this is obvious.

This cap can be used with a long hood in place. During such times, it can be difficult to use a traditional "snap on" lens cap. Using this particular, cleverly designed cap means that you can set up your long lens (that has a deep hood) and leave the cap on. Yet, when it comes time to actually shoot, all you need to do is grab the neat little handle, pull the cap off and you're ready to shoot. No more having to remove the hood or awkwardly reach inside the hood to try to unhook the cap.

The cap is held in place using six "O" rings that create a tight, perfect fit. In addition, the unique handle will compress to an ultra thin 3/16" when you store your lens in its case.  The "O" rings never touch the lens surface and will not damage your lens. This cap is a thick design and will guard your optics from the damage that we all fear with long (or short) expensive lenses.

Cap can be mounted on the lens while the hood is in the shooting position or in the stored position
Handle allows a firm grip on the cap so that it can be easily installed
Can be used with or without the factory lens hood
An interesting alternative to the traditional "sock" hoods that come with longer lenses

N50 Lens Cap for the Nikon 200-400mm f/4 VR (Black) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine so far Have only used this for a couple of outings so far. It has not fallen off the lens even though I carry it pointed down most of the time. There are a couple of things I am not crazy about, I can no longer set the lens/cameras down on the front of the lens to swap bodies and put on rear caps. I would like a more positive locking mechanism as the cap does not feel like it is securely attached. On the other hand it is easier to stick this cap in your pocket rather than the cloth hood that comes with the 200-400 lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally! the only lens cap made Thank you! Mr Zech, for inventing something that nikon should have made for my 200400 lens. If you own this lens you already know that the lens sock that comes with the lens is a pain in the you know what. I have almost dropped my baby a couple of times trying to remove the lens cover. This lens cap is the perfect fit and just the perfect addition that nikon should have included with this very fine lens. Now the glass can be protected at all times.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so good Not as functional as I had hoped for. Storing the cap out in the field is a pain and not convenient. Also I can not stand the lens up as the handle gets in the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Cap Much easer and faster to use than the Nikon supplied hood. Use the Nikon hood for storage, but this cap when shooting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Nikon This lens cap is one Nikon should provide with the purchase of the lens. The bulky Nikon cover works when I put the lens away in its case, but when using the lens the Zeck cover is easy to slip on and off. Without this cover I would likely not cover the lens when I was going a short distance and damage to the objective would have been a risk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use So far this works very well. It provides for an easy means of capping the lens even with the hood on. It does seem a bit expensive but it's worth the peace of mind of always covering the lens. The cap included with the lens(which can be difficult to put on) wouldn't be used neary as much as this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problematic After a couple of years of use, mine is not reliable; it will not stay attached to the lens. It constantly falls off of the lens for no apparent reason. I have even had it fall off of the lens while the lens was stored in a cabinet; consequently, I no longer can use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cap I use the lens cap out in the field where the standard sock cap is awkward.
