The Hitachi L32N03A 32" Multisystem LCD TV reminds us of the hero in a spy novel. It's foreign, good looking and it can easily operate almost anywhere in the world. Oh, and it's very well equipped.
For looks we like the glossy black finish with a touch of red running along the base. And the Touch Sensor buttons give this set the feel of sophisticated technology. But let's talk about what it can do.
First off, this is, as you can tell from its name, a multisystem TV capable of tuning in a variety of NTSC, PAL and SECAM signals. That wouldn't do you much good if it wasn't matched by a 100 – 240 V AC power supply. It is.
A good secret agent has to be flexible, like the L32N03A. Its very effective 1200:1 contrast ratio can jump to 10,000:1 dynamically when the image requires it, like when you're watching a dark movie scene with some bright spots in a darkened room. And with three HDMI inputs you can plug in a Blu-ray player, a game console and still have an HDMI input to spare.
All of the action takes place on a WXGA (1366 x 768) screen, a great size to experience true HD in the kitchen, den or bedroom—or even a modest living room. The true HD experience is courtesy of the L32N03A's three HDMI ports, which means your HD images will remain in pure digital form from source to set. If you like a little action on the side you'll be pleased to know that that's where you'll find one of those three HDMI inputs—on the side of the set, convenient for plugging in camcorders and game consoles.
So you want to play games? You've picked the right set. With an 8 ms response time the L42N03A is ideal for high-speed, action-packed console games. No blurring or smearing of the image here.
If you just want to relax with DVD or Blu-ray movie you'll appreciate the L32N03A's Movie Frame Rate Converter. To translate a movie, which is shot at 24 frames per second, to video, which runs at 30 frames a second, engineers have used a number of technical tricks. The most common is called 3:2 pulldown. It's not too shabby. Probably every movie you've ever watched on TV has used it. It would be nice to get rid of that bit of jitter, though. Hey, this is the 21st century. Instead of periodically showing movie frames multiple times your L32N03A actually creates new frames that it slips between the existing frames. Sounds pretty far out but it really does work and it makes great images.
It was once an impossible mission to get all of these great features in a multisystem set at this affordable price. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to acquire a Hitachi L32N03A 32" Multisystem LCD TV and start enjoying its outstanding audio and video. We know there's a limited supply. Good luck.
