Can this be used to phatom power an XLR microphone (Sennheiser MKE 600) to a preamp or recorder (Zoom H5)?
Asked by: Eric
Although it does not provide power itself, the Audio-Technica AT8314 Premium Microphone Cable can surely be used to pass phantom power from an XLR microphone preamp input connection such as those found on the Zoom H5 Handy Recorder to a connected condenser microphone like the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone.

question

What does wired for low impedance mean? Are these wired out of phase? Please explain what wired for low impedance microphone means.
Asked by: Michael M.
There are many different styles of microphones for many different applications. Live, studio, drum, etc. All microphones are not made equally nor to have the same performance output. Therefore, microphone manufactures will produce different microphones including low impedance, in other words, those that operate using lower power and less interference from outside devices to reduce noise. Every electrical and mechanical product produces a little noise. the larger the device, usually, the larger amount of noise. Microphones are no different, especially when plugged into an amplified device. You want cables that do not transfer this noise or at least as little as possible. I hope that this helps.

question

What is the operating temperature range? Is this cable good for in-wall/in-ceiling installation?
Asked by: David
We use these cables for events, so mainly we run them on the ground or string them up for a few hours and then take them down. On some accessions we've ran a few in the ceiling, but the ambient temperature is no more that 100F.I have had 1 or 2 cables warp due to direct heat greater than 120F.
