Audio-Technica AT8410A reviews

AT8410A Shock Mount is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shock Mount - Not Boom Ready The AT8410A is a great shock mount for the price. It's a very rugged design compared to most shock mounts and holding a shotgun mic with the clip is much more secure than the usual rubber bands which most cheap shock mounts use. this is especially important when the mic is point down at the talent. I've used the this mount to hold my Rode NTG-1 shotgun mic with a dead cat windscreen. This arrangement is very front heavey but the AT8410A continued to solidly grip the mic and completely eliminated boom pole noise. The only thing i would warn you about is that the AT8410A does not come with the necessary adapter to fit the standard boom pole. You will need a 5/8-27 Male thread to 3/8-16 Female Adapter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Shock Mount!! This shock mount is much better than the standard Audio Technica AT8415 shock mount with the rubber bands. This shock mount has a much tighter grip on the shotgun which is very useful for shots with lots of motion or whips with the mic. I really haven't run into many issues with this mount at all except that it is not boompole ready. You need a 5/8-27 M to 3/8-16 F adapter because the mount has a standard mic stand 5/8-27 threading whereas most boompoles sport a standard 3/8-16 thread stud. This is my only reason I gave this review 4 stars instead of 5. I think Audio Technica should provide this adapter with this particular shock mount. Besides that this shock mount is fantastic for the price!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AT8410A Shock Mount - studio use Purchased to use with a Sennheiser MKH 416 in a VO studio environment ... (the MKH 416 is smaller diameter than most pencil mics, so shockmounts I already had wouldn't hold the mic securely) ... The AT8410A does exactly what I required - holds the 416 firmly - no slip even when the mic is pointing almost straight down ... Spring clip makes for very simple mic changeover or positioning ... Isolation is definitely adequate for the intended purpose (reduce/eliminate any residual floor- or desk-transmitted noise) ... How this would fare on location with a 416, or other shotgun, on a boom pole, I've no idea, but in the studio environment it is exactly what I needed ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice mic shock mount Audio-Technica makes some serious audio gear, and this mic shockmount has withstood the test of time. Works great, fairly rugged and robust, built of aluminum to save weight without compromising strength. The only bad thing is you end up twisting the frame to tighten/untighten it from a mic stand. The frame is held to the mount with a single screw, which loosens under such abuse. I modify mine by having a machine shop aluminum weld the frame to the mount, making it more durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really Delivers & Looks Good, Too! Use: Off-camera mic isolation for independent film-making projects; used in conjunction with multi-track field recorder & mixer during in-studio sessions and in the field mounted on a boom pole. Pros: Positively grips mics even with extreme downward angle tilts. Outstanding isolation from typical ambient disturbances, even when mic stand or boom is handled. Performs well in the field on a boom. Solid, high-quality construction. Mounting/swapping mics is easy and fast. Cons: The only reason why I didn't give a 5-star rating is because the mount is not boom-ready straight out of the package. Be aware that the mount sports a standard 5/8-27 threaded base and is not provided with a 5/8-27 M-to-3/8-16 F adaptor. This wasn't a big deal for me because I cannibalized an adapter from an unused stand mount that came bundled with an Audi-Technica mic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shockingly Good tight reassuring grip for all your expensive microphones. while fairly small and well-built you will want to find place in one of protective cases for these guys. there are parts which may bend under moderate to heavy pressure and I just don't like the idea of loading them into my truck mounted on the stand. perfect (5 stars) except for the screw which holds the shock mount to the threaded attachment piece. I wish that was a hand-tightened knob rather than a flathead screw bolt. well-spent money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Well Built Shockmount This is a solid well built shock mount that does the job. With the exception of the plastic clip the frame on this shock mount is solid aluminum. Very light weight but solid. I use this for field recording on the end of a boom pole. Except for rapping or knocking the pole this shock mount kills all handling noise. The frame's design allows mounting of microphone without disconnecting cables which is very convenient. All in all very pleased with this shock mount and the build quality on it will make it last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from high-value shockmount I use a pair of these with my oktava mk-012's, and they've performed well. A great value for what you get, and a solid performer.
