I bought this because I needed the thread adapter not the hot shoe. I thought you could unscrew the hot shoe but you cannot.

Can the adapter be removed from the shoe mount? What is the threading of that connection?
The female thread on the shoe mount included with the Audio-Technica AT8469 Camera Shoe Mount to 5/8"-27 and 3/8"-16 Threaded Base Adapter has a 3/8"-16 thread.
