Designed as a highly-portable and user-friendly entry to mid-level astronomical observation platform, the Celestron NexStar 90SLT 90mm f/14 Maksutov-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope gives users the ability to make detailed observations of the Moon, with the ability to easily see planets and reach outside the solar system to resolve bright deep-space objects like galaxies, nebulae, and binary or variables stars. The compact and powerful Maksutov-Cassegrain design uses a front corrector plate with a convex meniscus lens to correct off-axis aberrations, like comas, and chromatic aberration to produce images with true color rendition. The nature of the lens results in a smaller secondary mirror — limiting obstruction and increasing contrast, while eliminating the need for periodic collimation.

The brain of the NexStar SLT is the venerable NexStar computer controller. Equipped with a database of over 4000 objects, including the planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and the complete Messier catalog, it can also be programmed with up 99 custom user-defined objects and filters for custom object lists. Its intuitive menu-driven user interface puts the power to observe the heavens with nine slew speeds and three tracking rates, plus anti-backlash compensation. Features such as guided tours, extended information on 200 popular objects, and multiple assisted alignment procedures make the NexStar controller easy to use and invaluable to new users and experienced star-gazers.

    NexStar 90SLT 90mm f/14 Maksutov-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb optics, user friendly, accurate An amazing instrument for both first time buyers and seasoned observers like myself. If you're frustrated (or worse) by lousy, poorly designed and basically unusable beginners telescopes, you will love this 90 SLT. It sets up in two minutes! If you can use a bubble level and can tell time, you can find sky objects accurately with this scope. This is my smallest scope (I have 4) and it gets just as much use as the others. And you can travel easily with this one, too, something that can't be said about my other ones. The only thing it can't do is show you incredibly faint objects that require a larger diameter telescope to even see. I think you'll be as thrilled about it as I am.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality control varies from unit to unit Mine was pretty good overall, optics very slightly out of alignment (are not user-adjustable) so it gave images that were only pretty good. The tube coupling to the mount had minor play in it and the internal adjustments there didn't eliminate the play. I returned it for refund. May try one more time later on to see if I get a better one. I am very picky, and you may think it's wonderful and be perfectly happy with it! I do think the quality control is somewhat inconsistent. Even still it is vastly superior to a lot of small telescopes out there at the same price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good beginner scope This is my first telescope (other than cheap department store ones) and it serves its purpose well. I didn't realize how misaligned my finder was and was unable to get the scope aligned with the sky the first two times I tried it. I aligned the scope with something down the street, and that took care of it. All subsequent alignments went flawlessly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far; easy to set up (on the 1st attempt) After set up the hand control found the first item I selected. All the other suggested spots were found immediately when I clicked them. I'm joining a local astronomy club in hopes to learn the tricks of using my telescope. I also recommend B&H. Prompt delivery and good packaging (no damage to any equipment I received).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good telescope This telescope gives the most magnification and a great price for it. With this telescope I saw creates on a planet that you could barely see with the naked eye.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thanks to B&H fast delivery and received in good condition, the scoop is good for planetary observations, the mount works good with good tracking.
