Simple and Effective

This is a simple yet effective metal casting that solves the problem of attaching Celestron binoculars to a photographic tripod. Finally, I can view through my Skymaster binoculars without shaking. Great!

Threaded Screw is Too Short

I was happy to receive this as the tripod adapter that shipped with my Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars are made of a wobbly plastic that vibrates and bounces with the slightest touch. This is metal and doesn't have that problem but does suffer from a way-too short threaded screw. Hand-tightening was not enough to secure the binoculars, and I ended up needing pliers to tighten it, which broke the short screw in half. I wasn't even using that much force.

This gadget makes it easy to stabilize my binoculars and use them on my tripods for superior viewing

Mostly does the job, not rock solid though

I love that it is so easy to mount this brand of binoculars to a tripod. I only wish that I could tighten the attaching screw down tight enough to keep it from rotating right and left after mounting. No matter how hard I tried to tighten the connection, it would not let me lock it in place. Of course I'm not using tools because the design attempts to provide what looks like a generous knob to do the job, but on my model of Celestrons the knob is buried behind the objective lenses far enough for it to be hard to give it a hard turn by hand. Bottom line: It's workable but a bit delicate when set up.

Bought it for my Celestron Nature DX and Celestron Upgear and it works quite fine with the tripod. Small but useful!

I never knew I needed a binocular adapter until I found this on B&H. I have really enjoyed putting my binoculars on this adapter and using my tripod to keep by my windows during these cold winter months to bird watch from the comfort and warmth of my house! Very easy to use as well!

Less robust than expected

As the headline reports, the adapter is less robust than I expected, but it does the job of supporting my 20X binoculars on my tripod. It was simple to attach to the binoculars and then to the tripod and holds the binoculars firmly. Note the connection to the binoculars is horizontal, meaning the adapter would not work on, for example, my camera that has the threaded mount at the bottom of the camera.

question

will this fit my silk sdv-20 tripod? There is no screw on the bottom but a plastic swivel release.
Asked by: Anonymous
That is a Celestron Binocular Tripod Adapter. You would need a -20 screw on the release plate of your tripod to mount the binocular mount.

question

Is this adaptor made of metal? Am I right to assume there is a hole in the base so it can be attached to a tripod screw? I want to replace the original plastic adabter I got with my Celestron 15x70 binoculars because it is pretty shaky. Looking at this slim profile of this adapter I worry it could be the same, or is it sturdy not to have the same problem as with the plastic one? Thanks

It is metal - and I have it attached to a monopod - holds my Ceslestron Binoculars very secure

question

Can someone post a picture on how the binoculars would attach to this adapter. I can't visualize because the interface on the binocs is perpendicular to the tripod head?
Asked by: Cristina
@joel l What do you mean "... this adapter only works for Celestron binoculars, because, at the front of the binocular, there is a cover that covering up a screw hold, ..." ? I thought this fits MOST bino's that have that tripod adaptor screw hole ?
