The Life Saver is made from reinforced vinyl and weighs 38 lbs (17.23 kg) when filled with sand (not included) and 22 lbs (9.97 kg) when filled with water (not included). Galaxy Audio LSR38 reviews

Life Saver Sand Bag is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The name does just what it says This life saver bag did just that. It was a life saver. Didn't have money for a new mic so I had to protect my current one. With boom mic stands that constantly tip over (and I've caught it every time) I needed something to weigh it down so I didn't have to worry about it falling over. I got some sand at Wal-mart for about 4 dollars and then filled the Life Saver Sand Bag. THAT took a very long time. But once it was in, I was set. And I love this bag. Its nice and heavy and I never have to worry about the stand falling over. Its not going ANYWHERE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for speed-light lightstands I have a light-weight lighting kit - speed lights, light-weight lightstands, etc. I use the Life Saver to stabilize a lightstand holding a softbox on a boom. It works well for this. I fill it with water when I get to the location, and empty it before I leave, so I have a good weight on site, and almost no weight to carry around. As long as you can get water at your location, this is a great way to have a 22-lb weight that turns into a few ounces when you're in transit. I've only used it a couple of times so far, so I can't comment on its durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what was needed This is the solution to the tippy mic stand. The boom mic stand has to be just about fully extended in both directions for our drummer/back-up vocalist. With a goose neck and microphone, keeping it from his lap was tricky to say the least. The Life Saver Sand Bag is definitely the ticket to solving the problem until we can go wireless. Quality product, Very pleased

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who knew... I have purchased the Life Saver Bag hoping to lighten my load when I traveled to a location for a shoot. I was going to return it thinking it wasn't going to work well. I am so glad that I kept it. You can use water or sand to fill up the Life Saver. I have chose to use water. I would fill up the life saver at the location and dump the water out afterwards making it easier for me to move it around. If there is no running water at the location, I will fill the Life Saver with water before leaving and put it in to a small plastic box just incase it does decide to leak and then I dump the water out afterwards. So far I had this Life Saver for about a year and have not had it leak on me yet. I use the bag to stabilize my c-stand for my wireless strobe. Couldn't be happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the Effort I have been trying to find a solution to some of my tripod mic stands toppling over with heavy microphones and this is it! It did take some effort to go get the sand to put in this thing and then about 30 minutes to fill it up using a funnel. However, I feel that the time setting it up and hauling it around from gig to gig is worth the effort so far. It works great at weighing mic and lighting stands down and really is a life saver (haha)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job I use these to replace the Photoflex water bag I use to have. I shoot a lot on the beach, and travel international. Impossible to carry weight bags along! So theses are perfect, I always find water wherever I go! I use them on light stands and also on a Kessler crane (to replace the gym weights) when I shoot video with DSLR's. Looks like they are built solid (the plastic is thick) and they are basically perfect for travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for directional signs The Life Saver sand bag is exactly what was needed to place over the base of our outdoor directional sign. Heavy enough to keep the sign from being blown or knocked over by people walking by (we filled it w/sand). And because it surrounds the base of our sign, the Life Saver has made the sign and the sand bag itself theft proof. Everyone at the Hotel has commented how practical the product is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavier than you think! I used water to fill and it was still way heavier than any saddlebag style counter weight. Water filling is a little cumbersome (the surrounding area WILL get wet, but water makes ot much easier to empty out on teardown for transport and storage. Appears to be sturdily made from heavy plastic.
