A81WS - Windscreen for SM81 & SM57 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as it gets When I ordered this, I did not realize how big it was. Because of its size, it absolutely will not allow any pop to come through. I tried yelling P's and B's into the mic and they were very smooth and did not peak the amp. The main reason for buying this is for a person that eats the mic all the time. Distortion and pops are ridiculous with cheaper windscreens. This baby stops it all. Fits tightly on the SM57 as it should. Only negative is that it takes more gain in the mic channel to get an appropriate sound level at the speaker. This is not a big deal, just crank up the gain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shure A81 WS foam windscreens The Shure A81WS foam windscreen is extremely effective, preventing plosives or wind noise from entering the microphone. Even though they are made to be used on the Shure SM81 and SM 57 microphones they can be used on other microphones with a maximum diameter of 1.25 inches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid choice for SD microphones I bought these for using with AKG 460 mics. they are the perfect size for them and have been proven to be one of the best choices without going Rycote or Zeppelin style. I do live audio only not film. Have owned another pair, bought from B & H years ago, and am replacing them as they have been beat up in the gear bag. I would say they protect very well with winds up to 40 MPH. The only con I can say is there is they are difficult to store, but that's more about me than the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Windscreen Option For the 57 This is a great option for the SM57. I use it in my home recording studio (bedroom) and it allows for a clean vocal recording with no noise. It makes the SM57 even quieter, so you have to pump up the gain a little. It's great. It takes a little maneuvering to get it onto the mic properly, it's a tight squeeze, but that's way better than a loose windscreen. It's also hilariously large, but it makes me feel like I bought a whole new microphone. But it's just my trusty SM57. Do it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent windscreen for outdoor use It helps eliminate wind noise even with a steady wind.I've used these for years and they have helped with many recordings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what we were looking for Husband was looking for windscreens for Geffel 200 mics that were 2-stage foam - finer foam on outside and more open foam on inside. These fit the mics and have exactly the type of foam he was looking for. Also seem to be made well. He uses them for outdoor concert recording, so needs something that is sturdy and will cut wind noise without affecting the music. Also wanted windscreens that were reasonably priced....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not quite a softee At a third of the price of a Rycote softee this is almost as good for moderate wind protection. Have used on schoeps cmc/mk mic's for years. It is sonically transparent and protects mic from physical shock, light rain and wind. much cheaper than the schoeps teardrop foam filter. kind of obstreperous for tight interiors but otherwise solid all purpose windscreen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW They're big, they're expensive and they cut the wind and HVAC noise to nearly nothing. At first try, I didn't think the mic was on. I tried everything on the camera, switches, gain, etc. Then I realized it WAS on, just didn't hear the air conditioning noise on that channel that I heard on the camera mic on the other channel. All I can say is WOW. These things are really huge, I mean REALLY big. And, kind of cool in a perverse sort of way. I don't care if they're the laughing stock. Man, they work well. Goofy-large. The mic almost looks silly with this thing on. Bought two. Have two SM57s and bought a SM63 long handle for ENG type shoots. This baby fits both 57s and 63s (quite tightly.) So far, I completely agree with my fellow reviewers in what they say. So turn up the gain a tad, and EQ the highs in post if you must, but have your mics wear these babies all the time... think of it as a way to have safe mic'ing.
