    Apple MC556LL/B reviews

85 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wish the cords were much more durable. This is the Apple OEM charger that is made for the MacBook Pro and is what is made for this laptop specifically, but the cable quality near the connectors is of poor quality and that the cords wear out within a year and the charger fails. The vinyl insulation on the cord easily splits and breaks exposing very thin wiring, or the MagSafe itself connector fails. I have had to purchase 3 of these chargers in the past 2 yrs. Unlike other Apple products this charger is made terribly. The have also made it impossible to separately replace the charger cord if it becomes frayed or fails. I wish there was an alternative to this product. In my opinion this is the WORST Apple product since the Newton.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from genuine apple product cheaper than store This is the genuine Apple charger. It was a few bucks cheaper than the Apple store when I bought it (I thought that was impossible), plus free shipping, and no sales tax if you have is shipped to an address outside of NYS. I shopped around a lot, and didn't find the genuine Apple one cheaper ANYWHERE else. It comes with the extension chord, if that's what you call it (the long removable wire that plugs in to the wall and connects to the actual dc converter where the two-prong plug is removed). The ad did not make that totally clear to me, but it does in fact come with it. Even with the free shipping option it came to my house in three days total, and I live a couple hundred miles outside NYC.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well-made, beautifully-packaged product This is a well-made adapter. I especially love the MagSafe connector. This adapter is much lighter than the adapters of many other brands of laptops such as Toshiba. I even enjoyed opening the beautiful packaging that this adapter came in. The only possible downside is that the coax cable from the adapter to the MagSafe connecter MAY be fragile. The reason I said this is because the cable of my old adapter broke, prompting me to buy this one. I have no way of knowing whether or not the new adapter has a more durable cable than the old adapter. I sure hope so, in which case the adapter would deserve 5 stars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from original apple product Received original apple product as expected from a reputable company. This included the 2meter extension cord for the adapter. Quick shipping. B&H was the cheapest I could find to obtain this product. Many other sites advertising similar products at cheaper prices on further reading seem to ship poor quality adapters, sometimes not even the correct L shaped magnetic connection although the pictures on these sites show the new connecter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New and improved charger for MBP I didn't necessarily NEED a new charger, because my original one was working just fine.....albeit with some fraying :) I got this as a gift, and I'm very impressed with how Apple has improved it over the last couple of years! The cord is thicker - hopefully this will prevent fraying, the box part is smaller, and the magnetic end is angled to where it's even with the side of the computer. Feels like the magnet is possibly stronger now as well? I was pleasantly surprised to find that the charger also came with the extension. Knowing Apple, I was afraid they'd package and sell it separately to make more money...It's convenient to have two chargers now; but great to know that when my original one dies, I'll have a fantastic new backup. ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always Buy OEM Always buy Original Equipment Manufacturer to ensure proper regulated voltage and compatibility. It works without much a fuss. It also comes with a longer cord to replace the stubby power plug that extends your reach by a few extra feet that is very useful. The BnH sales person was kind enough to walk me through the process to ensure I don't need the tip adapter connecting to the computer. If anything I learn about the plug is this: on top of the wire going to the computer are two flipup handles to tie the power cord around, it is a very neat package but do NOT wind it too tight, or else the plastic shielding will break, exposing the wire that may endanger your safety. Only complain is: it's stiff and is it possible for them to make the plug smaller?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's an expensive plug I am appreciative of the B&H discount for a plug for a computer (MacBook Pro) that seems overly expensive (the plug). The plug itself does what it is supposed to, though it is not travel friendly in terms of being able to make it compact for travel. And below I recommend to a friend only because there are no alternatives I know of...
