Oben ACM-1400 overview

  • 1Description

The Oben ACM-1400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod is a lightweight, sturdy one-legged camera support that enables you to capture steady shots without needing to carry or set up a full tripod. The monopod's flip-lock leg stages descend easily and lock into place securely, so setup is a breeze. Maximum height is 61", which facilitates comfortable operation for most users. It can support up to 17.6 lb, so you can mount any DSLR camera with most lenses, a point & shoot model, or even a compact camcorder.

For fine control over camera orientation, you can also attach a head to the monopod's reversible 3/8"-16 & 1/4"-20 mounting screw. Three set screws underneath the collar enable you to fasten the head securely to the plate. An Allen key is included & attached to the top leg section, so you're always ready to make adjustments.

The monopod collapses to just 19.2", so you can stow it in most carry-on bags. At only 1.05 lb, it's the perfect travel companion – lightweight, compact, and simple to operate – but highly capable and ready in an instant to help you capture the perfect shot.

Reversible 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 screw for mounting any camera or head
Foam grip mitigates the effects of extreme temperatures and protects your camera by ensuring that your grip doesn't slip
For a second line of security and more stable shooting, wrap the attached strap snugly around your wrist
Wrist strap features belt clip for convenient hands-free carrying

    Oben ACM-1400 reviews

    ACM-1400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 167.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value!!! This is a very inexpensive monopod. It seems to work great and very easy to use. It is also looks pretty good. I use it for still pictures with my Nikon D610 w/grip and 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. Seems very sturdy. I do not use any type of head with it although it is made for that if you wanted to. I screw it directly into my lens foot or camera. Won't know for sure about the durability of it till football season rolls around in the fall but don't anticipate any problems. I have a couple of minor cons. No 1/4 rubber thread protector. Only 3/8. Cheap carrying sack doesn't have a strap but that's okay since the monopod has a belt clip. All in all very well pleased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could Double as a Hiking Stick I'm only half joking about the walking/hiking stick idea. But when your out hiking with your camera or camcorder you don't always have a stable platform near by for that special low light shot. This unit really fits the bill. There is nothing cheap about it. Great quality, very sturdy, soft foam grip at the top. Very useful strap with an incorporated belt clip which I found handy at times too. Your good walking stick suddenly becomes a great monopod. The only slight draw back if there can be one, is that it doesn't have a swivel head. But oh well, for my use doing amateur photography and for my money it's a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and handy I purchased this monopod to use while taking wildlife photo's on long walks instead of a heavier, bulkier tripod. With practice it adds almost as much stability as a tripod and is much easier to carry. It is cleverly engineered to make switching between both bolt sizes quick and easy. Although it is useful without a ball head, it is much easier to use with one. The Oben micro ballhead (BD-0) is a bit small and hard to adjust if the large base plate is left on, but works well with the plate removed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value !!! Sometimes you get more than you pay for. I do a lot of wildlife photography with some large glass ( Nikon 200-500 & Nikon 400mm 3.5 AIS with 1.4 converter ) and trying to steady these lenses without a monopod gets real hard-real fast. This is my 2-nd ACM-1400, nothing was ever wrong with the first, I just misplaced it. It's lightweight but has always holds these 2 lenses firmly & is easy to adjust on the fly. Great value at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right Weight. Stable. Excellent price. Not carbon fiber but neither is the price. What it is is... super stable platform for my 2.5 pound Sony camcorder. Tabs style lockdown tight. Super stable nothing slips. Wrist strap with a builtin belt clip is genius. The weight is manageable hanging from a heavy belt, but mostly I'll use a sling pack to carry it Got this for run and gun video. Easier to setup and carry versus a tripod. The large foam pad grip makes it easy to hold it steady for the short video clips I'm doing... 2 to 6 minutes. Bought this with the combo VH-R2 Swivel/Tilt Monopod Head also by Oben Super package. Recommended over manfrotto and the rest and super affordable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ACM-1400 After purchasing a Tamron SP 150-600mm lens, a little hefty, I found this monopod quite useful in supporting my camera and lens when needing to hold it ready for periods of time. Seems to work well and I'm pleased with it so far. The only thing I think it could have had that it doesn't is adjustable clamps like my Oben tripod legs for when it wears over time. I also purchased a head for it that only pivots in one axis. A ball type head may have been a better choice if using for following action.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lighten your load The ACM-1400 Oben monopod does a dandy job of supporting the load of my Nikon D-7100 and 500mm lens. That combined weight is just over 6 lbs and it does get tiring holding it on a distant subject after a while. The monopod provides great stability for steady zoomed in shots. You can easily pick up the camera to track a subject with the monopod still attached. That's how I caught the attached image of the Bald Eagle bringing home the groceries. The unexpected benefit of this monopod is that you can throw it over your shoulder with the camera attached (like an ax) making the camera a lot easier to carry. The only thing that disappointed me was the tag on the monopod stated that the clamp tension could be adjusted with a small screw on each clamp lever. Mine has no such adjustment, 4 stars not 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from monopod!!!!! As a professional wildlife photographer, I used to always have the heaviest tripod I could get, but with the newer lenses and digital bodies with capabilities they now have, I tend to use a monopod when I am photographing animals that are on the move. It can be tough when you dont have time to get a tripod all set up and try to get the shots. with a monopod, I can move faster and shoot faster and still have a bit of stability with this monopod. good item for the bag!
