Oben BD-0 overview

  • 1Description

The Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head is the perfect topper for a miniature or table-top tripod model. Constructed of aluminum, the BD-0 functions like most full-sized ball heads but features a supremely low-profile design. A single-action lever loosens the ball and allows it to move freely in all directions, and in addition, a groove allows it to tilt 90° in one direction.

The BD-0 head can serve as a replacement head for an Oben TT-100, TT-200, or TT-300 table-top tripod. Or it can allow you to properly orient your camera on any other tripod model, whether it has a 1/4"-20 or a 3/8"-16 stud – the head has a 3/8" thread and comes with a reducer bushing to make it compatible with the 1/4"-type stud.

Low-profile yet strong for its size – supports up to 6.6 lb
Supports most 35mm and DSLR cameras, as well as point & shoot models
Ball platform tilts 90°
3/8"-16 mounting thread
1/4"-20 reducer bushing

BD-0 Mini Ball Head is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 141.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with Gorillapod SLR Zoom I bought this for my Jobi Gorillapod SLR Zoom because I didn't ant to spend $30+ for a ballhead from Jobi. This is compact, works well, and sturdy enough to hold my heavy camera equipment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for DSLR use! Just got back from a week long vacation, taking 100s of photos with this ball head and went through a lot of disappointing situations when using this with my Canon Rebel and 16-35 2.8 lens. For the horizontal shots it was barely able to hold the weight of the camera, could use it with the 2 second delay only, with hands on the camera at slower shutter speeds it was Not stable at all BUT the major Aggravation was that it was impossible to shoot anything Vertical with this head since it's absolutely not able to hold the weight of the smallest DSLR in vertical position. The 6.6 lbs description is misleading. I missed a lot of vertical slow exposure waterfall shots :(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Ballhead for my purpsoes It is very companct, a high priority for me, because I have to carry the equipment. For when I change from landscape(horizontal) to portrait(vertical), the head was unable to hold my Nikon D5200 and Nkion 18-200mm lens in a locked position no matter how tight I cinch down the knob. So It will be in landscape(horizontal) only. Also the ball head tightening knob is too long to clear the metal wheel used to tighten my monopaod to my camera, so I had to remove the metal wheel which leaves enough clearance.Overall, I really didn't expect too much from this inexpensive and little ball head, it is a good value for me though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made miniture ball head A well made ball head for light weight gear only. Very well made but too small and lightweight to carry more than a few ounces. I bought this to secure and point a small Solio solar collector to my touring bicycle's front rack so I can charge my phone off the grid. The Solio has a hole in its middle through which I run a 3-inch 1/4x24 machine screw into the BOTTOM of this ball head. The TOP with the thumb wheel removed is then secured to a P-bracket on my bike's front rack. Upside down, the Oben works fine to point my Solio at the sun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this product. This is a fairly light weight, small ball head. I made the purchase to use with my Leki Photo trekking pole that converts to a monopod. This unit will fit between the walnut ball that normally lives on the top of the pole and the actual trekking stick. I think this would be a good product to mount a flash on a light stand, tripod or like I am using it for a smaller (MFT with 45-200mm lens) camera. This head is very well made but is also very light. That full frame camera with the 800mm may not work well for this product. There are two unusual features on this head. 1. It has both 1/4 and 3/8 tripod fittings with included adapter. 2. It has a panning function which would be useless for panning but does enable you to keep the release screw on the same side of the head.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice with Jobo pods This is the ticket for using the Joby style tripods with flash. I love the functionality of the stick-on lightstand by using the Joby style flexible tripods for off camera flash. However, getting the most secure spot for the legs to stick onto something, requires a third degree of freedom to swivel the flash attachments. This ballhead functions well even with a Pocket-wizards remote and attached Canon 580 EXii flash. This is a small movable head, my DSLRs will not be used with this head. This also works well with flexible tripods for the GoPro and similar small video cameras as well. Lots of good uses for a small lightweight ballhead. This might show up as a stocking-stuffer during my holiday shopping...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oben quality mini! I use these mini ball heads to mount my speedlites on light stands. They do that job wonderfully, they let me point them in any direction that I may need. I have an oben tripod and it is great quality as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great To Hold A Speedlight Bought it to hold a speedlight and it works great for that. Small and lightweight as well as inexpensive. I wouldn't plan on using it for anything heavy though. It is n't designed or priced for that!
