Pentax 39892 overview

  • 1Description

The Pentax Waterproof Infrared Remote Control enables you to fire your PENTAX camera remotely without having to worry about the elements. It features a shutter release button, a zoom button and a function button that can be used to change the delay time for remote capture. This remote is not for video functions.

To ensure waterproof performance, the remote is totally sealed, which means that the internal Li-ion battery is non-replaceable. The lanyard attachment lets you attach the remote to a strap, camera case, or to your camera itself (lanyard not included).

Waterproof Infrared Remote Control is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cute as a button but don't buy! This is the first time ever I have rated a product one star or less! I purchased this 01/05/2012 today is 11/03/2013..Order # 1019139451. Needless to say it DOES NOT WORK. The BATTERY is non user replaceable! So let's see $3.00 to ship each way =$6.00 plus cost of battery replacement $10-to $15.00 and at $16.00-to-$21.00, I feel like i have been had! I don't blame B&H But this is the only forum that will get read! So Buy a stranger a $2.00 cup of coffee to fire the shutter if you want to be in it or use the camera's self timer Save your money on this one folks!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little K-1 IR Remote Excellent little remote for the Pentax K-1 (my use). Compact, lightweight, and easy to take with you on a key ring. One button for focusing and the big red for taking the shot. Combined with the K-1 IR remote capability (instant or delayed), it works perfectly. Reservations: It mentions that the battery is not replaceable. That could be an issue unless it's like most auto key bobs and works for years on the original battery. There are screws on the back (not sonically welded shut), so it might be possible for replacement by those who are technically inclined. Also, it would be nice if it had a bit more range. Using it at 5 meters is a bit touchy and the remote has to be pointed directly at the camera IR port.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My second--battery only lasted a year This is a nice remote, but the battery did not last the 50,000 activations the manufacturer claimed. I probably made less than 1,000. I hate the fact it is disposable. I will send my old remote back to Pentax so they can dispose of it properly. I like the IR remote because I can use it in any weather, but don't trust it as your only remote--have a remote cable in case this stops working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works as expected I use the remote for long exposures and it works just as expected. I am around bodies of water on a regular basis so the waterproofing is nice for peace of mind. Battery changing requires unscrewing two screws but they should last long enough that it is not that much of an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy, works with K-5 It's very handy to have a remote that can be used in bad weather, dropped into snow, puddles, and so on. The remote works with my K-5. Range seems to be around 15 feet. The zoom button (middle button) activates autofocus, and the orange button releases the shutter. The Fn button does not do anything with the K-5. It's probably worth it to get this remote with the K-5 instead of the non-waterproof one unless you really like the tiny, tiny size of the standard remote. For me, the standard remote was too small, and hard to use with cold or wet hands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish I bought a different remote The remote works at less than 15 feet away from the camera and it has to be at a precise height for the camera to capture the signal. This is not a good remote to buy if you intend to use it for a lot of group shots. I do find it very useful for long exposure shots so that I don't have to touch the camera at all. I can't comment on how waterproof it is because I have not used it in such conditions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short battery life - not replaceable I got fewer than 10 uses out of this before it died. Battery cannot be replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just works Focus and shoot. Simple as that. Took all of 5 seconds to get use to... ie in Continuous mode you press once to start shooting and again to stop (not hold down)... same in Bulb mode. This is a little opposite to wired remotes I have used where you hold the button down. Has a Fn button that the K-5 does not use... not idea why. No points off for that since I can't think of a use for it. Just took some nice shots of the Milky Way, 20 seconds exposure, no shake,
