The Kramer 3G/HD-SDI Switcher (4 x 8) is a 1 RU standard 19" rack mount HDTV compatible switcher for digital video signals up to 3G HD-SDI with a data rate of 3 Gbps. When using synchronized digital video sources, switching is implemented during the vertical interval period according to the SMPTE RP-168 standard.
The switcher has 2 types of looping analog sync - Bi-level, tri-level and a multi-standard operation, which can support different interfaces like SDI (SMPTE 259M & SMPTE 344M), HD-SDI (SMPTE292M), 3G HD-SDI (SMPTE 424M), and Dual Link HD-SDI (SMPTE 372M). The re-Klocking and equalization technology alters and rebuilds the digital signal to travel longer distances. Multiple memory locations store multiple switches as presets to be recalled and executed when needed.
With the help of a Take button, multiple switches are executed all at once. Flexible control options for the switcher include front panel controls, RS-232 (K-Router Windows-based software is included), RS-485, ethernet, contact closure & IR remote. The switching synchronizes either to external reference or incoming video.
Each input button lights up when a video signal is detected - green for SDI and blue for HD-SDI signals - and serves as active input type reporting. The front panel control lockout renders the front panel button inoperable and disables unwanted operation of the switcher.
