VariZoom VZ-SRock Overview

The Varizoom Rock-DVX & VZ-PFI Studio Setup combines the remote zoom rocker of the Rock-DVX with the focus and iris controls of the VZ-PFI, giving you a finer degree of control over your Panasonic camcorder. So far so good. I have this combo connected so volunteers can comfortably film. Usually leave focus in full automatic, but useful to have the ability to change to manual if auto focus isn't working correctly.

I already had a set of these rear controllers that I used on an HMC150 and my newer PX270, but recently I got a DVX200 and so I needed another set. Depending on the camera, you can get a perfectly smooth very slow zoom. The Panasonic 270 allows me a smoother slow zoom than the DVX200. Not sure why that is. The only downside of this setup is it is easy to bump the focus knob with a stray hand which causes the focus to go radically out of focus, so be careful! Also, if the iris knob is set to the closed position, if you plug in the LANC connectors while recording, the iris will close down until you manually open it back up. I made that mistake on a wedding once.

Will this operate with a Panny AG-CX350? Are the connections a standard that will operate on any Panasonic with the available connections?

This is not compatible with the CX350. The CX350 uses LANC protocols, you would need a different controller. The VariZoom VZ-Rock Variable-Rocker for LANC Camcorders is a great option, BH #VAVZROCK. https://bhpho.to/2sGcWDc

I'm sorry to say we do not know what will work with an older camcorder like the AG 460. From our research I have seen that the camera does have a Single Remote Port on the back, this product works with Panasonic camcorders that have 2 remote ports. However it is possible that it will work with just the Zoom and Start/Stop Record handle which is B&H # VAVZROCKDVX. We recommend using the following adapter for Lanc controls on A7 camera models.https://bhpho.to/3LMh7kk. The Varizoom VariZoom Rock-DVX & VZ-PFI Studio Setup will not be a good choice for your camera since it is mainly used for older Panasonic cameras. Does this work with the AF 100?

Sorry, there no affordable motorized zoom lenses or controls for the AF100 because the zoom lenses available for it are either not motorized or do not have motors that can be connected to wired remotes. If you are looking for a MFT camcorder that has wired remote zoom, you might consider the DVX-200. It has a built in Leica zoom that can be powered by a VariZoom for Panasonic cameras. With that camcorder, you can use the VariZoom Rock-DVX & VZ-PFI Studio Setup.

I don't know about the HPX-250 but we use this setup with our Panasonic AJ-HP270's and they work great. I called VariZoom directly to find out before I purchased them here at B and H.
