The Varizoom Rock-DVX & VZ-PFI Studio Setup combines the remote zoom rocker of the Rock-DVX with the focus and iris controls of the VZ-PFI, giving you a finer degree of control over your Panasonic camcorder. Utilizing the dual ports on HVX, HMC, DVX, and small DV Sized HPX cameras, these two devices attach to your tripod handle and bring precision, range, and variable speed to your camerawork, for a broadcast-like feel.

Note: VZ-PFI not compatible with AG-DVX100, AG-DVX100A, AG-DVC30, AG-DVC60, AG-DVC80 camcorders

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes all the Difference I really enjoy operating my zoom, focus and iris with these controllers, instead of directly on the camera. It adds a significant degree of comfort, and consequently, finesse, to your camera operation, especially for long event shoots. However, I have had a few issues: After a couple years of use, the focus wheel on my first one came off and I've had difficulty securing it again (no set screw hex key included). When tightening these to your handle, be careful not to tighten them too much - the backs of mine cracked, as the tripod handles were not very big in diameter and it took a lot of torque on these to get them well secured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have accessory This was actually a mistake, I had meant to purchase the single unit which combines both of these into one piece, VZRock-PZFI Rocker Controller. But, as this was purchased for a hand held format camera, its not a bad idea to have two separate controls. When the hand held is put on a dual handle stabilizer, you can have one of these on each handle. I banged up another Varizoom controller and the focus pot failed. The quality of customer service at Varizoom made a lifelong Varizoom customer out of me. These are great controls when you have your Panasonic on a tripod. Which I do, 98% of the time. Once you get used to them, you will never, ever consider reaching around the camera for the zoom button. If you break it, you will be counting the days until your replacement arrives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great functionality! I use these for event videography, documentary, and single-cam filmmaking. I love the ability to control the most camera's essential functions down on the tripod arms, rather than having to get my arms and hands tangled up reaching up to the camera body. Sometimes the camera's zoom rocker is on the wrong side of the camera and I reaching over with my left hand is awkward. Also, I find that I can control a slow ramp-up and ramp-down at the start and stop of a zoom MUCH more precisely with the VariZoom rocker than I can with the camera's rocker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for stage work! I already had a set of these rear controllers that I used on an HMC150 and my newer PX270, but recently I got a DVX200 and so I needed another set. Depending on the camera, you can get a perfectly smooth very slow zoom. The Panasonic 270 allows me a smoother slow zoom than the DVX200. Not sure why that is. The only downside of this setup is it is easy to bump the focus knob with a stray hand which causes the focus to go radically out of focus, so be careful! Also, if the iris knob is set to the closed position, if you plug in the LANC connectors while recording, the iris will close down until you manually open it back up. I made that mistake on a wedding once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This is a must have for anyone using the AC90 from Panasonic. The focus controls on the AC90 are horribly slow. Once I plugged in the studio setup everything was very responsive. Now I can get super fast focus and iris controls at my fingertips. One thing to note though, the focus control (at least for the AC90) is really sensitive, meaning you don't have to turn it much to make the lens adjust its focus. This can be a great thing if you want to rack and focus to something thats really far away and then something very close. However it takes some getting used to when you are fine tuning the focus. Overall Im very happy with this purchase, it really adds another degree of creativity when you are getting shots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth moves! Works great with my HPX170 - very smooth rocker action, ease in and out of zooms. Bonus feature with ability to adjust iris from focus remote.
