BG-C4 Battery Grip for Canon EOS 7D is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 232.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good grip for the money The grip is really nice for events, and sports photography. The construction is a little flimsy and doesn't feel completely secure. The battery door doesn't like to open for me. The other issue I have had with the Vello battery grips I have is the wheel to change the shutter speed (when in manual mode) doesnt tend to work on occasion which gets frustrating during events. This issue has happened 5 times in the last month, so Ive stopped using the grip. When it did work consistently it was really nice. But the inability for me not to use the shutter speed dial is the reason i gave this grip 3 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the price Great price for a good piece of gear. Works well and I have not noticed any interface issues with my Canon 7D. The fit and finish is not perfect...there is a small lip where the battery case attaches to the camera body. I've not tried the Canon battery case, so I don't know if this minor detail is unique to the Vello. The battery case works as advertised. The only operational anomaly I have noticed is that when using the shutter release on the battery case, it seems more sensitive than the one on the camera body. This is also a minor discrepancy, and it may disappear after more use. Overall, I would recommend this piece of gear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, not great I bought this because I had been wanting to add a grip to my kit for awhile but couldn't justify the cost of the Canon grip. I have never used Canon's grip so I can't compare but there were a few things I wish could be improved. 1) The front inside portion of the handle is much more square than the handle built into the 7D. That makes it feel a little odd. 2) The buttons are not nearly as nice as those on the 7D itself. They feel plasticy and are a little stiff. All that being said, as a whole it feels solid and the texturing is rubber and identical to the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, solid item I bought this or my 7D to give me extra battery life an because of my large, Greek hero-like grip. I was skeptical at first because of te considerable price difference but once it arrived I was quickly reassured. The build it solid and it has performed great for the last several weeks. My only complaint is the wheel used to screw the grip into the body seems a little in the way, I'm always hitting it and afraid I'm going to unintentionally unscrew the camera. So far though, that hasn't happened and other than wishing it were a slightly smaller/recessed wheel I've been perfectly happy with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extra Battery life w/out the Canon Price I use this to extend the battery life of my Canon 7D. I bought this because it was way cheaper than the Canon version. It works great, connects well, allows me to change out batteries while still recording so I never have to worry about dropping a shot. I have not used the Canon version but this works well, and the added benefit is you don't have to spend the extra cash just for the Canon name. This is a big plus whenever I travel or am out for long periods of time shooting, this gives me the added security of not having to wait for batteries to charge, I can simply lock and load and film my project.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice build and works very well For half the price of the Canon, this Vello grip is worth the money. The build quality is very nice, and it does what it advertises. Sometimes it's tricky to get the camera to correctly read the remaining battery life; you have to turn the grip on before turning the camera on to get it to work properly, but both batteries are still working. Grip surface is identical to 7D. Having never used Canon's grip, I can't directly compare, but it was well worth it to me. One nice touch was a built in holder for the 7D battery door you have to uninstall--nice design, there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BG-C4 Grip for 7D Adds significant weight but also seems to add balance when I have the larger lens (70-200mm F2.8L II) and 2x extender on the body. I have small hands and worried that it would be too bulky but have learned to handle the setup quite well. For reference: If I spread my hand as wide as possible, it measures 8.5 inches from the tip of my little finger to the tip of my thumb. No, I can't palm a basketball either! I have had good luck with a vello tripod mount ring in the past so I thought I'd try this grip and am completely satisfied with it so far. I hope this helps in making your decision.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing works like it should I bought this product because it got a good general review and was much cheaper than the canon one. Wish I had saved my money. The shutter release is very finicky and sometimes will not work. There is some problem with the contacts as my camera will sometimes loose power and I have to take the grip off and reinstall it for it to work. The battery door is not on a spring hinge so you have to try and pry into the gap with your fingernail. The only good thing about this grip is the finish. Different from the camera body but still very gripy and nice.
