I have the Cavision Shoulder Pad Package for the Canon 5D, yet I own a 7D and it works just fine without this added spacer plate. You may have to adjust the rig a little bit by removing or adding a plastic piece that Cavision provides, but I don't need the spacer plate and my 7D is lining up perfectly with the LCD and viewfinder. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars, is because I found another valuable use for it that has nothing to do with why they sell it. If you have a long Zoom lens on your DSLR, attaching this plate to your camera body enables you to set down your camera without the weight falling on the lens. Otherwise, save the $ and order your favorite film from The Criterion Collection. Otherwise, it's a pretty flimsy piece. I went through three in my return process before settling on one. One had a faulty spring screw and another had stripped threading which means if I had tried to use it my camera I would have fell on the ground and smashed into pieces. Again, the quality control issue at Cavision.
