I purchased this reel for 35mm film development, but unfortunately it came misaligned and poorly manufactured. The spirals are uneven and the center columns are bent, causing the film to catch and jam during loading. I have experience using stainless steel reels and never had problems before, but this one ruined three rolls of film. Itâs clearly defective and unusable. I am returning it for a refund. Very disappointed in the quality.
It takes me 15+ minutes per roll to load these, very, very carefully in a changing bag. Actually Im pretty sure they can be bent into proper shape with pliers and patience, but maybe you should just buy good ones. If you arent methodical and very skilled at hearing/feeling the film crossing the tracks, you will definitely wind up with your film stuck together during development. But on the other hand if you can load these by feel, you can load ANYTHING. One more thing: Maybe you should make yourself a cocktail with a long straw and set it down beside you before getting started.
