These things sound great for music and voice. Paired with a Yorkville 70v amp.

Nice solid speakers with a clean sound. We used them for a permanent installation which needed minimal audio and they are performing fine.

I am going for 7 speakerss of JBL Control 65 P/T for a restaurant. What is the minimum wattage required on the amplifier? Any recommendations of an amplifier?
Asked by: Akhil
These pendant speakers can be tapped at various wattages at 70 volts. Once you decide the wattage you will be running the speakers at, you would need an amplifier that has at least that amount of power, multiplied by the amount of (6) speakers, For example, if you are using the speakers at 15 watts each, you would need at least a 90 watt 70V power amplifier. I would suggest one with a bit more headroom in power, such as the JBL CSA 1120Z Audio Amplifier (1 x 120W), BH #JBCSA1120Z.

I am considering using these in a home theater as surrounds. How do these compare with typical consumer grade home theater speakers as far as sound quality?
Asked by: Steve
There isn't a standard to reference "sound quality" and/or "typical consumer grade" (whatever that means) so your question can't be answered. Your room acoustics will influence what you hear far more than speaker differences. You simply have to buy and try. In terms of pure specs, these pendants have what I needed but I'm running Auro-3D 11.1 and so I needed full-range. The only funky thing about these is finding creative ways to mount them in the various angled locations. Having installed many home theaters and countless surround speakers, I can assure you that almost *any* speaker will function in that role despite what manufacturers will claim. Unique individual use cases like mine (Auro-3D) might slightly change that approach but only slightly.

question

I am going for 5 speakers of JBL Control 65 P/T My question Is which amplifier goes best with these
Asked by: Balwinder S.
Assuming you are using the JBL 65 P/T in 70v mode, and you tap each speaker at 60W, your amplifier needs to be at least 360W. You may consider the Speco Technologies P500A; B&H# SPP500A.

question

I am going for two pairs of JBL Control 65/T Speakers And One subwoofer of OWI Inc. MSUB10 10 Mercury Pendant My question Is which amplifier goes best with these
Asked by: Balwinder S.
There are certain details omitted from your inquiry which help determine the best amplifier to use. Will your set-up be mono or stereo? Would you be running an 8-ohm system, or a 70v system? If you are running an 8-ohm mono setup, a dual channel amplifier would work. If it is stereo, than you will need 2 amps. For an 8-ohm amp, take the RMS power rating and multiply it by 2. This will be the required power in order to get adequate headroom (3db) for your system. If 70v, you will need to decide what tap setting is appropriate in order to get 6-10db above your noise floor; factoring the 6db loss that occurs when the distance between the loudspeaker and the listener increases by double. In a 70v set-up you need at least 20 percent headroom. Assuming you are setting each speaker at the max tap, and all speakers are on a single line, you can get a 221 watt amplifier. If all you need is an amp, and not mixer/amplifier, you may consider the Electro-Voice PA1250T; B&H# ELPA1250T.

question

Im going for two pairs of JBL Control 65P/T and a Control 60PS/T subwoofer, my question is about the amplifier, what is the recommended power for this using it in low impedance without the taps? im planning on connecting it sending the signal from the amplifier to the subwoofer and the subwoofer sending to the control 65P/T, also, is this set up better than the transformer taps?
Asked by: Hector Jose I.
The setup you are proposing is for use with a home AV receiver or amplifier and will work fine. This speaker can handle up to 75 watts so be careful not to overdrive it.
