    Domke RuggedWear reviews

F-831 Small Photo Courier Bag (Brown RuggedWear Waxed Canvas) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Bag! I have long been looking for a nice casual camera bag for when I'm walking along a garden or zoo shooting and have an extra lens with me and a comfortable bag on the shoulder. This is it! I love it. I use it for camera gear, then my wallet, cell phone, keys and I'm set. Fantastic bag, made very sturdy, I think it will be a favorite for many years to come. Used it a few times so far, and am looking forward to spring/summer shooting with it as well. The strap is very long, and adjustable, with rubber on it for added traction on the shoulder. Can go cross body also. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish and discreet I am currently using this bag as an every day general use bag, it is easy to add padded sections for extra kit when necessary. Though if you are considering carrying more than one camera body and a couple of pro lenses I would suggest one of the larger sizes. Its design is more courier bag than man-bag which suits my fragile ego perfectly. It is discreet also avoiding potential camera snatchers! My only quibble is that the flap isn't exactly secure, it simply hangs over the top and is secured shut with velcro. Whilst the design means that it is relatively easy to keep the rain out I am not so sure about wandering hands in crowded environments! All in all a great looking bag that will clearly last for years and one that can easily jump from being a simple satchel-type day-sac to a light and unobtrusive camera bag. oh also, my 13 Macbook pro fits fairly snugly lengthways which is always handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect ! The search for a perfect bag is usually complicated, and personal. Besides the practicality we want something that look appropriate for the gear we carry around. After some time looking at other options and brands, I finally decided on this, and have to say I am very happy with the ergonomics so far. I carry around a couple micro 4/3 cameras plus a couple lenses, and this does it perfectly. Maybe some needs to be stacked sometimes, but the narrow footprint makes it much more comfy to carry around than a more laid out design with multiple pockets. Construction is top notch, styling spot on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice bag for Micro 4/3 it's a great bag for carrying around my GF1 and a couple of lenses. i like it because it gives me quick access for changing lenses and the rubber that is sewn into the strap keeps the bag in place while i'm walking or trying to change a lens on the fly. the only thing i would improve would be to build a couple more compartments to hold a couple of more lenses and maybe add an accessory pouch to hold memory, small grey cards, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Bag - Holds More Than You Think This is a well constructed, durable camera bag. The Domke Gripper strap is comfortable and prevents the bag from slipping off my shoulder. The sides are well padded, but the bottom of the bag has somewhat less padding. The Velcro silencers are a nice touch. So is the can of refinishing wax that is included. I use the bag to carry one rangefinder camera with lens attached, a short telephoto, small flash, and a few essentials. It could certainly hold larger equipment with ease. There is a small zippered compartment under the flap that will hold keys/wallet/phone. If you are the kind of photographer that likes/needs to carry lots of accessories, this model is not for you. I like the fact that the bag is rugged enough to use on hiking trips, yet is stylish and discreet as to not draw attention to itself when travelling or for street photography. It's a true camera bag that will blend in with the hundreds of messenger bags that are out there. I believe it will wear very well and the rugged look will improve with age. I would have rated this at 5 stars but for two reasons. First, it only comes with one divider. It really needs two. As far as I know, if you want an additional divider, you would have to purchase the replacement insert kit. I solved this problem by using dividers from an old camera bag. Second, I wish it had one more small zippered compartment. Bottom line: it's rugged, stylish, functional, and built to last a life-time. As always, service from B&H Photo was excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bag. Not so much a camera bag. Knowing that this wouldnt be an ideal camera bag, i bought it anyways for its looks. Its a long bag in height which i needed it to be to store my camera plus my ipad. Like others have mentioned, its lacking another divider/partion. I took my partion out completely to store my ipad and put my micro4/3 in the Crumpler Haven carrier. Could also store a few more personal items as well. The bag really is bigger than it appears to be. Like i said, i bought this bag solely for its looks! This bag looks and feels great by the way. Not as big as a messenger bag, but still big enough to carry what i need on a daily basis. They could have added a few things though: waterproofing/rain cover, extra pocket or 2, perhaps replacing the luggage strap for a tripod strap would have been a nice touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag rocks I'm adding the Domke DOF902K F-902 RuggedWear Super Pouch (Brown), so that I can more easily carry a 5d with flash and accessories. I carry extra batteries, 4 filters, zacuto viewfinder on the strap and it works perfectly. Domke is high quality and nice that you don't look photo nerdy when you tromp through urban landscapes. This bag helps me with run-and-gun style film-making where blending in to the environment helps. The only problem I have is it's so casual sometimes you forget your bag in random locations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely a must buy I am used camera bags with a lot of side pockets and zippers and secret compartments, so much that you don't know what to do with them and don't end up being very useful. So this bag definitely breaks that expectation. It has a total of 2. Believe it or not, that is just right. It is so versitile that you can pack it which ever the way you want to suit the situation. I was able to fit my Nikon full body dslr, speed flash 3 lenses (wide angle, 70-300mm zoom, and 50mm prime) and my ipad2. When I looked at first, I didn't think it could fit all that. Even with all that inside it, it remains with a lower profile than most bags I've tried and hangs comfortably as i am carrying it. The strap is nice and wide and doesn't slip. Looks great and doesn't get in the way. It is my perfect travel companion and never have to worry about whether I should take my camera with me on trips. This was always a concern for me because when I am going on business trips or to see family, I always would like to have my camera and a couple of lenses with me just in case I encounter good photo ops. I can carry everything I need (passport iPad phone wallet etc) and still have my camera with me when roaming the streets. This is the last bag I will buy. The only way I will buy another bag is if it is a Domke and I need more space or if this gets damaged or worn out (though that looks like it will take a very long time) The bag is very rugged and will take a beating. Very well manufactured and built tough. The best part, I find it very stylish for a camera bag. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it comes with one compartment divider so I had to use some from my other camera bag. It would have been 5 stars if dome included more. So I had to by a new insert for the bag or get from other camera bags.
