The product description and the response to a question of the B&H staff is very misleading. Unlike other reels from Hewes that have a larger center hole and have a comparable price from other vendors, this particular item is NOT compatible with the Patterson developing system. As shown on the photos, the reel does fit in the tank but not the light tight post. This means it cannot be used to develop in the dark. Don't waste your time! This steel reel will not

Can it fit in Paterson Universal Tank with Two Reels (Super System 4)? I would like to replace the plastic reels, thanks!
Asked by: Jon
The Hewes 35mm Stainless Steel Developing Reel for light leak issues is best not to use with the Paterson Universal Tank. The reel for the Paterson Universal Tank is the Paterson Auto Load Adjustable Reel for Super System 4 Tanks, BH #PAR (https://bhpho.to/4bk3QyI).

question

what are the advantages of developing reel? I need answer now
Asked by: Anonymous
This particular reel seems to be of better build quality than some alternate brands. Also, comparing it to a popular plastic reel, it has only 1 moving part, the film secure clip. I purchased this over the plastic reel due to my fear of there being a significantly increased chance of the plastic breaking. The metal reel will likely last many years.
