The Hewes 220 Stainless Steel Developing Reel takes much of the stress out of darkroom work. It is both easy to load and will take much of the demands of the darkroom. It features an easy loading sprocket system that separates this reel from other similar, less expensive reels. The center spring clip holds your film firmly in place as you wind it on.
It also would be nice if the leader clip had a bigger tab but other than that it's a great piece of equipment and I find it indispensable. For 220 film the ratchet loading plastic Patterson reels become a little bit problematic due to the length of the film. I'm glad I got one of these before they all disappear. It's also perfectly fine for 120 film. It fits nicely in Patterson plastic tanks that are deep as the light lock piece does not seat through the center of the reel.
