    Avangard Optics AN-E500 reviews

AN-E500 iScope Handheld Digital Microscope (Black/Blue) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Deal for Fixed 500X Magnification The eScope has great, but *nonadjustable*, 500X magnification. At this power the field of view is about .3mm, so it's difficult to get a sense of where you're at over a specimen, unlike a traditional microscope with its powers of 40X, 100X and 400X. If you don't need 500X power, get an adjustable 10X-200X digital scope. But if you do need 500X, a good set up is to use an adjustable scope to locate an area of interest on your specimen and then swap in the 500X scope for finer detail. The stand included with the eScope is junk. If you plan on taking photos or video, get a real stand. There are universal digital microscope stands that have a stage which can be moved along the X and Y axes and also feature fine focusing (up and down) over the specimen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unmatched! I've used many microscopes of this kind and I must say that this one provides better image quality and higher magnification that any handheld digital microscopes out there. It is a bit tricky to use as it is actually a real optical microscope and it focuses exactly like any real lab microscope. This microscope is ideal for professional use (forensics, research, etc.) but may be difficult to operate for the casual user.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cool i bought it at b&h a few weeks ago, and i'm satisfied. it would be better with adjustable magnification and with a better stand (the one that comes with it has got some spherical joints that just hold in certain positions), but for its price it's awesome. maybe the resolution could be a bit better as well, but for that you should buy a more professional and, in consequence, more expensive one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Time Stealer PROS:1. The images produced by the 2 Mp sensor are sharp with minimal distortion and good color rendition.2. The internal focus mechanism allows one to change depth of field of view. For example, holding it on a bug, one can focus on just the feet or only the top of a shell. This can be a disadvantage when viewing certain objects though.3. It is easy to use. Compared to a compound microscope, this is much easier. It moves from one object to the next without worrying about mounting an object on a slide or dropping a glass slide. 4. It works with many pre-made slides.5. There are very few limits to usage. If you can get your hands to it, you can see it through this device.6. My 7th grade science students are fascinated with day-to-day items as simple as the weave of a shirt to pencil lead to a hair growing out of skin on someones arm. They line up daily to get a chance to use my single unit before school, during lunch and after school.7. It is very easy to use with almost no learning curve.8. I do not worry about my students harming the device. The lens is nearly unreachable by all. I supervise a little closer around liquids though.8. It did not take much time to convince my principal to find enough money to purchase a few for my department.CONS: The USB cable could be longer.Focusing sometimes takes two hands. The stand it comes with is not complex or substantial enough for this device.I have lost more of my time being amazed myself by the world around me and the ease with which to see it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked fine but .... The camera lense is not protected from dust and was damaged immediately upon use - image contains permanent specs in the display window and is captured by the pictures and video - I have considered returning it for another product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from years ago Years ago, you would have to pay high dollar for this kind of technology...this is beyond my expections except for no slide holder built into the microscope..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works but adjustable stand doesn't fit The scope works but there's no way to hold it steady since the adjustable stand does not fit the scope. Either it was a packing error or design flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool for the money! I was impressed by the clarity of the images produced by this microscope. Clearly what I was looking for when I purchased this device!
