Slik PRO-340DX overview

  • 1Description

Designed to fulfill the needs of hybrid stills and video shooters, the PRO 340 QF AMT Tripod with 504QF-II Pan/Tilt Head from Slik is lightweight, durable, and includes a dual use fluid effect two-way head with quick release. It can hold DSLRs or camcorders up to 6.1 lb, and the top plate can be flipped to the side for vertical shooting. The height is adjustable from 20.3" to 57.3", and thanks to four leg sections it folds down to just 20.9". Also, the AMT (aluminum-magnesium-titanium) alloy is both strong and lightweight for added stability. Setup is quick with speedy flip leg locks, and the tripod legs can be angled in three different positions for added versatility. Padded legs further help users stay comfortable, and the gearless center column can unscrew into two pieces to transform into a short column. This shortens the usable minimum height to 10" for low angle shooting.

Slik super alloy AMT (aluminum, magnesium, titanium) legs have a 40% greater strength-to-weight ratio than standard aluminum

    Slik PRO-340DX reviews

PRO 340 QF AMT Tripod with 504QF-II Pan/Tilt Head is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value for the money Very versatile, light, easy to set up tripod. It has a smooth pan, and doesn't slide from the fixed position. It's light and very easy and quick to set up wherever and whenever it is needed. I have used it for everything from large Sony HD film camera to my GF-1 Lumix as well as with a telescope, and works just as well with all three. I definitely think this is a worth while buy. You sacrifice a little of the size for stability, however stability and solid manufacturing more important to me. One con is that the handle needs to be removed and doesn't fold in flush with the tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from smooth... Have had it for about 2 weeks. Its well constructed, opens up quick, and seems sturdy enough for my canon hfs100. The fluid pan and tilt head is amazing for smooth movement. The only thing I noticed,is when tilting to its most extreme positions (all the way up or all the way down) the fluid seems to push back and it moves to less of an angle on its own.You need to manually lock it into position.Really not a big deal for me. I am very happy with this tripod

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great portable tripod This tripod is perfect for me as a amateur documentary filmmaker. I need the portability it provides me. The tripod fits into a backpack. It's solid construction. Smooth pan and tilt. Very light. Everything I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for. PROS: The head is very easy to control in any direction and stable. It is well worth what I paid for it. CONS: The tripod is a little to short and to lite for what I need. It handles the weight okay, but the magnification is where it falls short because of the minor vibration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, compact, steady and priced right. Love this tripod. Good height, light, compact, steady and priced right. Looked at more expensive carbon fiber tripods but the salesman at the NY store recommend I try this one. Packs well and I'm not tired after a day of carrying it. I now leave the Manfrotto 055XPROB at home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Compact tripod for the price I love that you can get really low angle shots. The fluid-like head works well with my T2i. The Tilt is really smooth. It's also really quick to flip out the clamps to release the leg extensions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing for video/telescope use. I mostly use this tripod to hold my Celestron telescope, as it makes for very easy sky viewing. The mechanism is butter smooth, making it easy to change direction and locate specific stars. The actual tripod is, however, far too short for my tastes. Being 6 foot tall, I have to practically sit in a chair to look at anything at a angle above 45 degrees.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from >> Head broke in 1st week of use! << While the legs seem adequate, the tripod head is made out of thin, fragile plastic. I'm talking about the important part where the camera mounting plate gets locked down. Fortunately this did not break while the camera was ON the tripod. I'm dealing with SLIK now. I will post again when I get some resolution... :-/
