The Tiffen 77mm Warm Soft/FX 1 Filter can be applied to create a warm cast over an entire image while purposely reducing the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits, or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

The warming effect of this filter can be obtained under daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected. This filter's overall coloration reflects a mired shift value of +45.

This filter has a grade of 1. Grades of 1/2, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

    77mm Warm Soft/FX 1 Filter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even in digital still a great accessory This filter saved my life on a shoot outdoors with a very pale Iowan at the end of winter. Midwesterners don't see the sun for months and they get really, really pale. My Tiffen Warm Soft F/X1 transformed the subject from looking like death warmed over into to a regular human being. The great thing about using the F/X1 is that you can't tell it's in use. People shot from less than 5 or 6 feet away don't look fuzzy, they just look a little better. However, out past 8 or 10 feet you can start to see that there's something weird going on. I wouldn't use it to shoot a room for instance. But at normal closeup distances, it's magical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its does what is says it will do Its a great portrait filter as I use it to give a warmer feel to the overall scene, but also skin tones. The softness is not too much as the subject's eyes standout. Its a great filter to keep in your bag.
