Slik PRO 634 CF overview

  • 1Description

The Slik Pro 634 CF 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is an extremely lightweight, compact support for camcorders and DSLR cameras equipped with standard zooms or telephoto lenses. Maximum height for the tripod is a generous 63.1". Supporting loads up to 7.05 lb, the Pro 634 CF legs fold down to only 18" and weigh a mere 2.05 lb.

The four leg sections are secured and freed by way of twist locks. Because the legs are non-rotating, you can unlock all of a leg's stages at once by twisting the three large rubber grips with one hand. This enables remarkably fast setup of the Pro 634 CF tripod.

The rapid center column is removable as well as reversible for extreme low-angle shooting with an inverted camera. The plate at the top of the center column is reversible, which reveals a 1/4"-20 thread on one side and a 3/8"-16 thread on the other.

Neoprene grips on two legs
Rubber feet
Legs can be set and locked at three angles – independently of each other
Center column top plate is reversible, which reveals a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads

    Slik PRO 634 CF reviews

Pro 634 CF 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from so light and compact I love this tripod; it's very light and compact. I have been traveling with a Slik U212, which is very heavy. This CF tripod is amazingly steady with my Nikon D700 and attached lenses (70-200mm, 24-70mm). My only complaint is that the carrying bag was designed with a ball-head attachment in mind. My pan/tilt head does not allow the zipper to fully close-one arm/handle sticks out. I have a lot of respect for Gitzo and initially thought of buying; however, they are extremely expensive. I'm very happy with this Slik and it's a lot cheaper than a Gitzo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight but sturdy It's surprisingly sturdy for how light it is. I tested it (with the column down) with a Nikon D90 and 70mm lens and the pictures looked identical to ones taken with a much heavier tripod. With the column all the way up the pictures looked slightly soft but that's not surprising. I noticed that the weight spec is off a little though - the included documentation shows it as 2.2 lbs and that's also what I weighed it at with my scale. Both the B&H website and the Slik website show it as 2.05 lbs for some reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Medium Size Tripod I use this product when shooting landscapes. I like this product because it is lightweight and very portable. Also the ability to position the legs in multiple positions for better angles make this product a smart buy for a good medium size tripod. The only Con for this product is that there is no quick release for a camera only a screw mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant Tripod Great tripod. Very light yet also very sturdy. Assembels and disassembels quickly. Very easy to transport and carry. I mentioned care of the carbon fiber as a CON but this is only because you will need to be just a bit more cautious because carbon fiber is a fiber and not metal. Nothing extra would be required other that normal care for any peice of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A traveler's dream Simply a traveler's dream or for everyday use. Very compact, light and sturdy. I have discarded my bean bag from my car as this tripod is so easy to take anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight tripod I got this tripod to use with my fuji x-e1 because the tripod that I use with my large dslr was just too heavy for the small, lightweight fuji. I chose with tripod over the other options because it was taller (I don't need to bend over at all to use this tripod) and lighter than the other options I considered. It is a great small, lightweight tripod for a light camera. I would highly recommend it for this use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasted for three hikes I bought this tripod for an upcoming trip to Yosemite, but it didn't last that long. It was nice and lightweight - attached to my small camera pack, and was great for hiking. However, on a short warmuo trip to a waterfall near Ithaca, one of the legs got wedged under a rock. As I tried to remove it, with very little force, the leg snapped clean off at the hinge. I now have a bi-pod and a $ walking stick.Good for travel, but very poor durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight and a good price I was looking for the most lightweight tripod, which would be able to at least carry a Canon DSLR. Compared to other models available this one has the smallest measurements, compared to the size you can pull it out to. Other tripods with the same measurements wouldn't go as far as about 5 feet 8, so just about the right eye-size height for the average person. You can also invert the middle column if you want to shoot downwards. it does not have a big plate, which would give extra stability for bigger heas. The screw on top is the smaller tripod version, so for most heads you would need an additional adapter, but these adapter screw rings come cheap and if you're about to buy, just gor for a couple as they are tiny and get lost easily. For a carbon tripod this one slles for a very good price.
