Chimera 6077 overview

  • 1Description

This Chimera OctaPlus 57 Hi-Heat Kit I is the OctaPlus 57 Hi-Heat light bank (expandable from 5' to 7'), constructed with heat-resistant material, making it possible to use a 3200W hot light, as opposed to a 1200W light in the standard OctaPlus 57.

This light bank requires an OP speed ring to adapt it to your particular strobe or hot light. Refer to the Accessories section. A 3770 stand adapter or other model stand adapter is also recommended for the larger models, so the weight of the light bank is not supported by the fixture.

Hi-Heat OctaPlus can safely hold up to a 3200W fixture, as compared to a 1200W fixture for the standard OctaPlus.
Soft silver interior with an innovative graduated baffle for very even light spread.
Fall off from the center of the 7 foot front screen (for example) to the edge has been measured at only a 0.2 F-stop.

    Chimera 6077 reviews

    OctaPlus 57 Hi-Heat Kit I is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Light Quality! I used this with a 2k Blonde and loved the light quality. It really is much more even across than I expected. The inner diffuser is triple stepped and seems to do most of the work. The overall weight is also lower that I expected. My first application (and possibly many others) found it mounted on an Avenger Ultra short Jr stand, this holds it barely off the deck in a flat on position. The leg spread on the Avenger is about 18 creating a funny looking but remarkable stable unit that I was able to dance around the studio with one hand. I love the fact that it can work as a 5' or 7' unit. The wrap on the 7' is a treat and the reflections are NOT rectangular. Even though it is light weight I would not expect the tilt lock on my light to hold it for very long, it needs some type of direct mount to the stand. Chimera sells one but it does not come with the kit. I thought I perceived a slight warming effect in the diffusion but that was not obvious in the photos.
