Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time or money I wasn't expecting it to be a professional level stand at this price. I'm a photography student and I live in a small apartment so I was looking for something smaller and in my budget. It arrived broken because B&H poorly shipped it in the box it comes in with no other packaging or protection. The stand itself was broken, one of the legs was loose causing it to stand lopsided and render it useless. It is so flimsy I don't see how it could have held a roll of anything weighing more than aluminum foil. I wouldn't have trusted it or kept it if it didn't arrive broken. I returned it for a refund. I just tape my background paper to the wall for now it's a better solution than risking this falling on my model..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very flimsy I found this to be very flimsy. There are not the screw-in knobs to adjust the height, just these little wire pins. No way to adjust the footprint of the stands. One of the legs of mine was too loose and went out further than the rest, making the whole stand sit crooked, thus making the entire thing unstable. I would never use this with a client as it seems VERY easy to get off balance and tip over. Cross bar sags in the middle when totally extended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good depending on budget and situation Im starting a photo n video studio. Reading scott kelbys books brought me to think about this option. he recommeds to buy this stand with seamless paper. Nonetheless, I noticed afterwards that he actually does not use it in his photos! well, he appears to shoot in a studio where the walls are either painted or have white paper on it. Now, I am considering to do so my self, because I am not really thinking about using many different backgrounds. Just white and a greenscreen. And I must tell you putting the seamless paper (worse the greenscreen) is a pain in the a! ... cause you got to be very carefull so it looks seamless! One problem I found about this product (same for the seamless paper) is that it has no instructions. To place the stand was no problem, but I would like it to instruct you on the right way to put the seamless paper or other backgrounds for that matter!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a bad place to start I needed a background & stand quick for a project and tried to get it on the cheap; this stand and a roll of paper fit the bill. You need to be careful when setting this up as it it somewhat unstable; the base is narrow and there is nowhere to add sandbags. Also, for storage and transport purposes this does not collapse down to a small dimension - at its smallest it is still 5' long. With that said this has served me well supporting paper & fabric backgrounds in my makeshift studio

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It gets the job done at least I bought it to work on a body of work for my class so that I didn't have to keep carrying my seamless back and forth to the studio and to be able to work whenever I want without fighting for equipment. The stands are kind of weak; they flop around when you fold the stand up to store and don't stay in place if not on the ground, so be careful when you bump into it. My main problem is the pegs at the top of the stands. The stand came with thick plastic around the pegs that you use to hold the background support in place. I unscrewed the one out because the plastic was inside the stand then and the part that you screw the peg into in the stand fell right down inside the tube and I still haven't been able to get it out. So, I had to tape the peg on to make sure it will stay in place. It also doesn't come with instructions, which would have helped me learn how to raise and keep the rods on the stands extended. You have to use the wire pinchers on the stands and squeeze them together when lifting the poles and then keeping them at the bottom to hold them up. Other than that, it has worked fine for me and I am able to keep getting my work done.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works Does not really need instructions, BUT - I had the same problem as Maddie, The stand came with thick plastic around the pegs that you use to hold the background support in place. I unscrewed the one out because the plastic was inside the stand then and the part that you screw the peg into in the stand fell right down inside the tube and I still haven't been able to get it out. It shouold come with a warning label, DO NOT UNSCREW THE PEGS! I glued mine back in with JB Weld.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for I bought this product because I was looking for an inexpensive backdrop support to use for a videoblog my company is preparing to launch. We were setting up a home studio, so we needed flexibility, easy setup, and durability. This product fit the bill perfectly on all three fronts. It also stores easily. I like the fact that it expands or contracts depending on how much background we actually need or have space for. A very good value for my money!
