    APC P8GT reviews

P8GT SurgeArrest Surge Suppressor is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does't work with Mac Mini or Mac iBook I bought two if these, one to use with a Mac Mini and one to use with a Mac iBook. I found they would not shut down the printer, etc when either of these went to sleep. It called APC support and waisted an hour or more while they had me try different things. Then they decided to sent me two replacement units because mine were defective. The replacements worked not better than the originals. It cost me more time and more than $15 in shipping costs to return the originals and the replacements. I know know this is a well known issue with smart power strips. APC should have listed it as an issue in the specs that are listed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally worth the money My last power strip was a cheap piece of junk that wasted ports due to the standard vertical orientation of the ports and their difficulties with AC adapters. For very little money I was able to get a much more substantial power strip that opened up 3 more ports so I can have everything plugged in and have room for a phone charger or whatever else I need. That being said I'm not an electronics expert so there's probably more in depth info to be had by hooking this up to an oscilloscope and taking measurements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I saw these on offer and bought two (the maximum I was allowed) but I actually wanted three. They have specific uses; one in the basement to charge my tool batteries and one in the garage to charge my garden equipment batteries. I chose the surge protection to protect the expensive batteries from damage. However, when I placed the order I did not know that they were the master type units. I do not need that feature but they seem to work okay ignoring that feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product Im using this smart strip with a TV that a DVD player, an antenna in the attic for our local tv stations that are 50 miles away. The great thing about the smart strip. Plug the TV into the control out let the items into the switched off outlets and it works great. Turn off the TV with the remote and wa-la the DVD and antenna amp turns off too. A great way to save on electricity. This unit is well built. Most of the products I have seen or used by APC are well made.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK Used to power a mid 2011 21.5 iMac 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 w/AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB running OS X 10.9.5. Computer runs in sleep mode using more power than is detected by the unit for a voltage drop to trigger a shut down of vampires. Other than that, of which it was advertised to do, it works fine as a power supply. Price was great. Would have been nice if it worked as advertised.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bait and switch - Does not protect ethernet and coaxial The item's description said that it protects ethernet connections so I assumed that the jacks on the front were were RJ45 ethernet connections. I found out when it arrived that they are not, they are regular RJ11 phone jacks, which does not help me as my ISP is brought in via coaxial cable. This should've been more clearly stated in the product description. Dissatisfied!
