    National Geographic A5270 reviews

NG A5270 Africa Series Medium Rucksack (Brown) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, quality bag! Great high-quality backpack for all of my needs - I can fit a 7D, 580 Speedlite, 2 good sized lenses, filters, batteries, 15 MacBook Pro, cables, power supplies, cards, pens and notebook, blower, cleaning supplies, remote, collapsable reflector, gorillapod+ballhead, and a tripod all in a good-looking backpack, and all well-organized... and I still have room for more! The metal buckles and leather straps are rugged quality (no plastic clips to break in the cold). My only complaint would be the bottom zipper for the camera - you access it though the bottom of the bag, and I'm afraid one of these days I'll put the camera away without zipping the bottom - the bag is rigid enough that it looks closed even when the zipper is open. I have to constantly check to make sure I've zipped up before slinging it over my back :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doesn't look photo, BUT . . . . . I've had several photographic backpacks, but they all had issues with looking like a photo pack, bulkiness and under the seat usability. This one doesn't scream "camera gear" which is a major reason why I got it. Also, it's under the seat size and shape works better. BUT: the two skimpy strips of velcro around the equipment compartment is totally insufficient, as are the piddly little section dividers. Had to use some odds and ends box pieces to make it really work. Had a hard time between three stars and four, but gave NG the benefit of the doubt and went with four. Just be aware of the velcro issues -- bigger than they seem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted I bought this rucksack to replace my worn out N.G. canvas bag. Excellent purchase. Better organized, firm - not floppy, the side pouches are setup for tripods or umbrellas. One caution: the bottom section has the zipper along on the bottom of the bag. If you forget to close it, your your gear is on the ground. A couple straps are longer than necessary (minor irritation). Also, the thumb straps on the shoulder pads were sewn in upside down so they don't catch into the upper metal rings (also minor irritation). However, it is overall a better product that sits well on the back. An outstanding day pack for photography or commuting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Actually Going to Africa! I bought this backpack to have a smaller camera bag to take to Africa with me. It is about half the size of my normal one, and just perfect for trekking across the continent. It fits my 3 favorite prime lenses, one camera body, my laptop, and plenty of accessories. It has all the space I need without being too huge. The best part about this particular camera bag is that it doesn't scream steal me, I'm a camera bag. Traveling alone as a female, I just like to take as many precautions as possible, and not having things that LOOK really expensive is great. This bag can take a beating and is good for the wear and tear. I've broken it in in the Colorado mountains already and it is worth every penny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job quietly and effectively A good-looking, inconspicuous bag that provides a slim option for those wanting to carry a notebook and their camera gear I wanted a bag that I could take round the world with me that could keep my camera gear safe, whilst being adaptable enough to be used as a day-pack. It meets those requirements, but the level of protection afforded your camera equipment is a little disappointing. The base of the bag needs more padding, and I will be hunting down some more dividers to this end. However, this weakness is also its biggest strength; the bag can in no way be termed bulky, certainly not compared with something like the Kata Bumblebee DL210. I've carried it around Melbourne, Australia and I would be shocked if anyone was even aware that it is a camera bag a big plus in my book. The upper compartment is more spacious than I expected, and the notebook compartment easily accommodates my HP 15. The straps are well padded, and although the bag doesn't have a supportive waist band, it's easy to carry. I've got a 50D, a 24-105mm L, Sigma 10-20mm and a 50mm 1.8 all in the bag with plenty to spare but admittedly I'll be using some of this free space to bulk up the padding!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Camera Bag As a professional photographer and filmmaker, having a DSLR with me at all times is a must. Considering I do a lot of documentary and photo journalism work, it makes sense for me to want to blend in with the crowd. I don't need a bag that says, hey, look here! thousands of dollars of gear inside! This bag fits that niche. Currently, I have the bag packed to the max. Here's what I carry: Canon 5D Mark II w/ Grip Canon 1D Mark IV 70-200 f/2.8 24-70 f/2.8 14 f/2.8 50 f/1.4 580 ex II Speedlite 15in Macbook Pro Other misc. objects I've had the bag for over two years, and it really is pretty great. Over all comfortable (though not the best for long treks), functional, and easy to get to the gear. The ONE thing I dislike about this bag is that the bottom flap tends to look like it is zipped up when it isn't. This, in the past, has caused me to pick up the bag and have lenses fall out. Luckily, I only damaged a lens hood when the lens was dropped, but I'm sure you can all imagine the fear that was associated. I always try to remember to double check, but when you're needing to relocate for a shot, move the bag quickly, etc. it can get you. Also, the tripod holder would be nice, but it doesn't fit my tripod. Oh well. :) I highly recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag I looked far and wide to find a bag that met all my needs. It needed to hold enough gear while also having space for other items. It also had to meet both domestic and international carryon guidelines. This bag is great. Well made, carries my gear, a change of clothing, snack, beverage and other needed items when traveling. A near perfect camera and other stuff carryon. Love that it doesn't look like a camera bag. Oh and my 15 Macbook Pro fits in very nicely as well. Front pockets could be a little larger, but not a big deal. Side pockets are very flexible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photo's on the go I bought this bag to keep my camera nearby while I'm biking around to get to and from class, shoots, work or whatever else I have going on with my day. It is a fantastic bag and definitely comes through with the everyday needs of what you'd want from a backpack, while giving you piece of mind that your camera is going to be safe. It would be nice if there was a little bit more room for my school books and other necessities of my school life, but I can't complain too much as compared to how well this bag has been working for me the past few weeks I've had it.
