Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens
Key Features
  • EF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/32
  • Two Fluorite Elements
  • Sub Wavelength Coating
Versatile due to its mid-telephoto focal length and bright maximum aperture, the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM is also distinguished by its high-speed performance and intuitive handling to suit its use in a wide variety of working conditions. As an L-series lens, this tele prime of course features an advanced optical design; two fluorite elements are used to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color accuracy and a Sub Wavelength Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality when working in backlit conditions. The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture also enables extensive control over depth of field for isolating subjects using selective focus, and it also benefits working in difficult lighting conditions.

question

Is this us or grey warranty? Also, how do I tell in the future where do I look? Warranty says limited one year?
Asked by: Anonymous
The lens on the particular link you are asking about is a USA version. On the link itself, where the title of the product is (in this instance it reads Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens) to the right of that will be a designation, in this case it reads USA ?. If it had been imported it would have stated Imported ? there. The lens comes with a 1-year Canon USA warranty which covers parts and labor due to manufacturers defects.

With the recent favoritism ot mirrorless cameras over DSLR cameras, and lens, is there a reason of concern of longevity of this lens as to camera mount with future camera mounts?
Asked by: Steve
I have a R5 and it works perfectly with an adaptor ...no problems at all .use it with my 300 2.8 my 500 f4 both version 1 models ..very old but work better than with my DSLR. well the camera is the best in the world now ..but if you go mirrorless you will not have to buy new glass ..trust me on this . the 300 2.8 that I have is one of the sharpest lens ever built by canon .. the newer 300 2.8 ef l would also be extremely sharp and blow your mind ... even with a 1.4 tele converter it is the sharpest lens in my bag .

I rented this 300mm F2.8 and used it constantly with the 1.4x... How would this compare (Image quality) vs just getting the 400mm f4?
Asked by: Bruce
If you buy the 300f2.8 you will have one of the very best Canon lenses ever. For a few more dollars for the 1.4 extender you will have an average 400f4. If you buy the 400f4.0 you will only have an average Canon lens.
