Touch Screen Integration
Using 3M's optically clear Dispersive Touch Technology (DST) within Sony's factory LCD housing, the touchscreen is designed for high-traffic, high-use environments, serving as an extra layer of protection for the LCD panel itself. DST provides access to the full display viewing area, which can be used as an interactive touch interface with infinite touch points offering fast, accurate, and repeatable performance.
The Benefits of DST
Dispersive Touch Technology combines chemically strengthened glass with an anti-glare surface and extremely fast and accurate response times. It supports gesture functions and offers users a standard USB 2.0 touch interface (touch connections are located in the connector bay area of the LCD). Operationally tested to more than 50 million touches in one location without failure, the screen contains no wear-out mechanism, layers, coating, or moving parts. By offering a technology that's fully integrated into the display--with no compromise to video performance and only a minimal increase in size (adding 1/4" in depth and 7.5 lbs in weight)--this touch-integrated display provides a compelling and competitive edge over standard display monitors.
