Apple MC544LL/A Overview

  • 1Description

Apple's popular 32GB iPod touch now reaches its 4th generation, offering an incredible iPod, video camera, pocket computer, and portable game player all in a single sleek unit with exceptional battery life. The iPod touch offers the same powerful A4 processor as the iPhone 4, as well as the stunning Retina Display with a Multi-Touch interface, which allows you to use your fingers to control all aspects of the iPod.

The touch has front and rear cameras for taking photos and videos, as well as having live video chats over WiFi with FaceTime. The internal accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope provide more motion gestures and terrific precision for an amazing gaming experience, which can be combined with the Game Center feature of iOS 5 to play against your friends. The touch also connects to the App Store and iTunes, offers multitasking, allows you to connect to the Internet, check email, and much more.

Sleek Design
At only 7.2mm thin, this is the thinnest iPod touch yet. The glass face and stainless steel back provide a clean look and excellent durability for a device that's equally at home in your hand or in your pocket
Retina Display
The iPod touch features the same stunning 3.5" Retina Display as the iPhone 4. It has 4 times the pixel count of the previous iPod touch - so many that the human eye can't distinguish individual pixels. This makes for ultra-sharp graphics, images, and text; perfect for games, photos, videos, and iBooks
Multi-Touch Control
The Multi-Touch display lets you easily access your content, change the aspect ratio, or control media playback with the touch of a finger. Scroll through screens slowly by dragging your finger or flick it across the screen to cover more ground. The touch makes it simple and easy to control your media. The touch features a pop-up QWERTY keyboard that lets you type emails or search for music and videos in the iTunes Store
A4 Processor
The iPod touch uses the same A4 processor that's found in the iPhone 4 and iPad. This chip is remarkably powerful yet power-efficient so it can perform complex functions like multitasking and video editing, while simultaneously maximizing battery life
The 32GB of solid-state flash memory serves as a reliable home for your music, videos, photos, and apps
Front and Rear Cameras
Cameras are found on both the face and the rear of the iPod touch. The front camera records 640 x 480 VGA-quality photos and video at 30fps, while the rear camera records HD 720p video at 30fps, and captures still photos at 960 x 720 (0.7 megapixels). Both cameras can be used during FaceTime calls
Apple's FaceTime technology lets you video chat with your friends and loved ones in real-time over WiFi thanks to the integrated cameras. You can even switch back and forth between the 2 cameras during a chat so your chat partner can see you or what you're looking at 1
Video Editing
Basic video trimming can be performed on the iPod touch, while more complex movie editing can be performed using Apple's iMove app, available separately in the App store
Game Center
Apple's Game Center, first introduced in iOS 4, allows you to rank your game scores and compare achievements against your friends. You can also challenge your friends (or automatically chosen strangers) in multiplayer games

    Apple MC544LL/A Reviews

32GB iPod touch (4th Generation) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 437.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great features ... except for the camera The retina display is great but unfortunately the new iPod Touch does NOT have the same 5MP camera as the iPhone. It has a 480x320 pixel front camera (VGA) and the rear camera is less than 1 megapixel (960 x 720 pixels which is .7 to be exact). So, this looks to be a great product unless you, like me, really wanted a decent camera in it. It is beyond me why Apple purposely put a low resolution camera (with no flash) in an otherwise excellent product. I guess they were concerned it would impact sales of the iPhone if it were too nice. Also, the new photo apps like HDR that Steve Jobs demonstrated will only work w/ the iPhone, not this iPod touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Apple's best model yet! The fourth G of Apple's iPod Touch series is basically an iPhone 4G without the phone feature. It has almost all the features of the iPhone 4G, and the best part is that you don't have to pay monthly fees for phone services. There are apps that permits you to make phone calls; the only catch is that you would need an internet connection (Wi-Fi) to do that (completely understandable since you are not buying an actual phone, but a portable device that, as a bonus, can function as a phone). Price is really low considering what you are getting from it, and I haven't found anything wrong with my iPod touch yet. Apple's best model yet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from iPod touch iPhone at half the price I recently bought the new iPod Touch. It came in it slick plastic case ready to be held. I bought it primarily to develop iPhone games, and seeing as how it has pretty much the same specs as the iPhone 4 but at half the price it made sense to buy it. This is my first iDevice and I like it a lot. It's smooth design which is so nice to hold and responsive touch screen make it fun to play on or to work on. I downloaded a few apps and now I can call the states for free on a wifi, making it easier to connect to people. It was defiantly a good buy and I will probably buy an iPad in the near future. - Paul Parnell Inspire Studios

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, love the I-Pod Touch I have grown to love this product... my 10 year old wanted one and I was very sceptical about how much she would use it, given she has a Nintendo DS but boy does she use this thing. It really is like having a phone without being a phone - she can text for free and the ability to Facetime with other IPod Touch 4th Gen users is amazing... it really is like having a free phone as this feature allows them to talk to each other face on face. The variety of games is amazing and so many of them are free. I would really recommend this product to anyone - great functionality for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive For someone making a belated entry into the SmartPhone / handheld WiFi world, I was extremely pleased by the 4G IPod touch. More than a week after the purchase I'm still exploring new features, and have been satisfied with the seemingly limitless possibilities it has offered so far. It's intuitive and user-friendly, and works well and consistently. The only downside is how WiFi sensitive the product has made me -- I really miss it when I'm in a place where I can't connect. But there's still so much to do even when without WiFi, that it's hardly a reason to complain. Sound quality for music & videos is pretty good on the speakers, and excellent through the ear buds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another gadget... I found myself purchasing the 32GB ipod touch in leu of the unavalability of a new 5th generation ipod nano at a reasonable price. The newest nano is rediculously small. Honestly, all I really wanted was a good mp3 player. Some how I became hooked on the ipod. So now I've got this nifty ipod touch, which is quite nice if you use all of its features. It's kind of a waste however, if you already have a decent smart phone with similiar features. I do however like some of the apps available to itunes. I've got it now and perhaps over time, I'll grow to love it more. I rate this product four stars because it does with is says but frankly, it's just one more nonessential gadget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome portable device ipod touch 4th gen rocks! Pros: stunning screen, fast processor and thousands of apps! long battery life, slim design, hd video! facetime! definitely more than a regular ipod. it actually replaced my mobile phone except for the actual phone features. now im an apple believer... cons: stainless steel casing is a fingerprint magnet. good thing bought the moshi microfiber ipouch with this ipod. everytime i put it in the pouch, the fingerprints are easily erased away. second is the sound quality. this is the only setting that didn't change from the previous ipods! still very tinny and low quality. i have yet to find an mp3 player that produce better sound output than samsung.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A lot of features I use this product mainly for listening to music and a tool to keep my music on for teaching spin classes. I do wish Apple kept the old larger version of the IPod Nano - the newer version is WAY too small. So I opted to puchase the Ipod Touch. It is a litte bulky, but light. A little touble navigating the screen at times when I am teaching spin and my hands are sweaty. The Ipod Nano was much easier to use for me when teaching spin. It has way more features than I will ever use. It was easy to set-up but I am still having difficulty figuring out how to use my wireless router to get internet access at home.
