    Archos ARCHOS 101 reviews

    101 internet tablet (8GB) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable tablet with compromises Bought this to get my mother in law started on her first tablet. At less than $, this is a very affordable 10 inch tablet. Even though it is a bit on the slow side, basic web browsing, checking and sending emails, listening to web radios and music, playing games, browsing pictures, watching videos/movies and even making video calls are possible on this tablet. Browser does crash consistently when viewing Flash based sites. Screen quality is very good, but it could be a bit slow in responding to touch input. Given the price point it is at, it's a nicely designed, light weight and a very decent entry level 10 inch tablet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Almost unusable After only a couple of days I had to return this product because it was almost unusable. CONS: slow processor makes every task a chore bad screen: unresponsive touch + washed out colors and very bad view angle impossible to install Android Market (because device is not supported by Google) Impossible to upgrade to a newer version of Android Battery life only 5 hours instead of the claimed 8 hours. PROS: lighter than any other tablets decent speakers In conclusion, spend more on a tablet to get a decent one like the Samsung Galaxy or the ASUS or live without.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Low Cost Superstar I was shopping for a tablet but I wasn't willing to go broke for something I'd use for fun a couple hours before falling asleep. I bought this to use when I was away from my computer for fun stuff, like surfing the net, games, movies, music and chatting. I took a chance on this product and so far could not be more satisfied! I'm new to Andriod so I'm learning as I go but it's been fun so far getting know my Archos 101. You can't go wrong for the price. Keep in mind this is not top of the line but it's not bad and it will go head to head with most wi-fi tablets costing twice as much. Thumbs Up Archos 101!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gave it a try, just too slow. Read the reviews but for that sale price, and B&H's excellent return policy, had to give it a try. It was supposed to be a brand new item, but when powered up, it was in Spanish, and already set to the current date. Had to go to the internet to get instructions on how to reset it since I couldn't read the in device manual. Tablet's screen display was just ok, but it was way too slow to do much browsing. Can't upgrade the operating system any further either, so newer apps will not run successfully on it. It might work out for some, but you do get what you pay for. I returned it with no issues at the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its a good product Good things: -It seems very well constructed. -It has a capacitive multi-touch screen. -USB host port (you can connect a keyboard, a mouse, maybe a printer in the near future). -The battery lasts a hole day of heavy use (wifi on, sound, hi-bright on screen). -It has a front camera for video call. Not so good things: -Its a good processor, but sometimes it could be more responsible. When suffing in very heavy pages (and with many flash content) it gets a little slow. Youtube plays well, but some other flash videos dont play smooth. -It doesnt come with Android market installed! It can be installed, but you have to look for instructions on internet to do so. Its not straightforward. Bad things (in my opinion): -It doesnt come with a carrying case, so you have to find/buy one that fits. - It doesnt have GPS internally (you have to use a bluetooth module). - It doesnt have a compass module.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Who needs an iPad? Great functionality. The interface and installed applications are user-friendly and I've experienced no freezing issues. The kickstand is an added feature that's delightful and convenient when I need to have both hands free. I'd surely recommend it to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value! I purchased my Archos 101 internet tablet in place of an IPad. I was interested in using a computer for entertainment (games and videos) as well as some document production and editing. The lower cost of the Archos convinced me to give it a try. I have had my Archos about a month now. It functions easily, you can personalize it, and memory can be easily added with an SD card. The only things I have been unhappy with is the difficulty seeing the screen outside and when used regularly it needs charging nightly. But all in all, I am very happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I've been playing around with the archos 101 for general web browsing and streaming media. I got the market easily and a swipe keyboard as well. Everything runs pretty smoothly for what I use it for. I am still a noob with the android OS and am finding out more things everyday. I love being able to stream my computer's videos straight to the archos with no trouble at all. Having only 8 GB may be a problem later in the future, hard to tell now though. And yes, the camera is a terrible camera. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.
