  • Adapts Canon FD Lens to Sony NEX Camera
One of the most appealing aspects of small mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX-3 and NEX-5 is the availability of a wide range of interchangeable lenses, including non-Sony lenses. This Novoflex Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Sony NEX Camera makes it possible to mount a Canon FD lens to your NEX-3 or NEX-5 camera with a precision mechanical adapter. Such an adapter does not transfer functions from the camera to the lens, such as auto focus, but automatic exposure metering (stop-down metering/aperture priority) is possible. The lens will focus to infinity using this adapter.

Novoflex NEX/CAN Reviews

Expensive but worth the price.

The Novoflex feels a lot more secure than any other adapter I've purchased. The K&F CONCEPT fits but is less snug. I really dislike play the silver mounting ring would have on the K&F. The Novoflex is locked in tight. I'm using this on my Sony FX3 and it fits great. I've also purchased the Novoflex Adapter for Contax/Yashica Lens to Sony NEX.

Thus far I've tried it with six different Canon FD lenses, from 35mm f/2 to 400mm f/4.5. Nice fit and function except infinity focus is not exact - must turn back a little. I expected better for a such a high-end item. Using it on a Sony A7R.

question

Hi! I'm thinking of buying a this adapter and use it on a Sony A7r and make use of my fathers old FD lenses. Will there be step down in aperture or focal length or will (for example) a 50/1.4 still be a 50/1.4 and render 100% of the sensor area on the A7?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Novoflex Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Sony NEX Camera will not affect the focal length or aperture of a lens. A 50mm f/1.4 FD lens would cover the entire sensor for the a7 and a7R, and as those are full frame cameras, the lens will have the same angle of view as when shot on a Canon FD mount 35mm film SLR.

question

Will this adapter allow use of Canonflex R mount lenses on Alpha-7? Do any modifications need to be made to mount R lenses?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is only for FD mount lenses, not the Canonflex R lenses. Unfortunately we do not sell any adapters for the Canonflex lenses.

question

Does the aperture control of the lens work with this adapter?
Asked by: Anonymous
The camera body can NOT control the lens aperture. You can manually control the aperture by rotating the ring on the lens. May have to run the camera body in aperture-priority mode or in manual mode.Have had good results with this adapter, my various Canon FD and FL lenses, and my Sony a7r camera body.
