    Epson S045234 reviews

Signature Worthy Paper Sample Pack (8.5 x 11") is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Papers - a great suprise This sample pack came with the Epson printer that I purchased. I did not expect the results of my print tests to be this good - in fact, I ordered several other sample packs by very reputable photo paper companies that didn't yield the results of this product. I am blown away by the color quality of the Hot Press Bright paper. I don't know that I have ever had such beautiful color on a matte paper. I am creating encaustics for a body of work and am happy to report that this paper works very well with the wax medium that i am using. The ink does not run with the application of wax, and the wax does not crack in the freezer test process for encaustics.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Requires careful handling As others have noted, the sample pack is a great way to examine a range of fine art papers before buying a large quantity. But...the sheets are identified only by a cover page preceding each two-pack set. Unlike other manufacturers, Epson does not embed identifying labels on the paper itself. That means users must take care not to mix up the samples, and to identify them carefully after printing test photos. Also...if there were an identifying label, say, on the rear of the paper, that would make it easier to distinguish front from back (sometimes tough with matte-surface papers). I do wonder why the Epson Ultrasmooth Paper is not included in the kit, since it's marketed as a fine art paper, too...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Low cost way to try Epson's best papers This is a great way to get a feel for Epson's fine art papers without spending an arm and a leg on full packs. You get two sheets of each listed paper for testing. For each paper I printed one color and one B&W reference image using an Epson 3880. I'm giving the pack 4 stars instead of 5 for the simple reason that Epson does not include sufficient instructions! Five of the papers, the four press papers and Exhibition Fiber, are not listed under Media Type in Epson's print dialog. You are also not likely to have the correct color profiles for these papers. For proper printing you must have the correct profile and media type selected, and Epson gives no advice on this. The profiles can be downloaded for your specific Epson printer from Epson's web site. Unfortunately you have to download and install each individually. But adding the correct profiles does not add the papers to the Media Type menu. It took me a good 15 minutes searching reviews and blogs to finally decide on the best media types for these papers. For Exhibition Fiber use Premium Luster Photo Paper. For the press papers use UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper. (Don't use those profiles, just those media type settings. Use the correct profile for each paper.) Most people who own Epson professional printers and who are interested in these fine art papers know enough to muddle through this. But it really should be a lot easier. People who just start printing are likely to get sub par, or even terrible prints on these papers due to incorrect profiles or media type settings. As for the is, as expected, excellent. Having already spent a great deal of time on the profile/media type issue, I won't spend more describing the papers. Besides, paper and print quality are something you really should evaluate for yourself. With this pack and reference prints in hand you can better judge the ideal choice for each image and project. I will say that the Hot Press papers and Exhibition Fiber will be rotated into my projects now, alongside Velvet Fine Art and Premium Luster, two papers I was already using. One last note: try 2880 dpi, at least with the Hot Press papers. Epson printers are so good that on many papers it's hard to see any difference between 1440 and 2880. But on the Hot Press papers 2880 does yield a sharper print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but saves you $$ in the end Wanted to see how my new Epson 3880 worked with different paper without a major investment. Although the sample package with its 14 sheets was rather expensive, it was cheaper than buying separate boxes of each paper. I took two of my favorite color shots and processed them with each of the 7 samples and labled them for future reference. The control samples enabled me to focus on the effect I wanted. I then showed the samples to different groups, friends, co-workers and my wife. What was interesting was the majority appeared to like 3 of the papers the most; however, I was fascinated with what the minority liked. This process gave me a better appreciation for different audiences. I plan to order another box to use for BW reference samples. As for the B&H ordering experience--speed and price were first-rate as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good collection of premium photo paper I use an Epson R2400. Epson does not supply profiles for this printer so I used a sample pack to create them, one sheet for color, one sheet for B&W. On some of the matte papers you need to be cautious as to which side is the print side. This can be done by touching a wet finger to each surface with the stickier surface being the print side. I suggest ordering two packs, one for profiling and one to test your photos with. The quality of the papers can't be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great assortment of paper to go with my Epson printer! I haven't had a chance to try out each of the papers in the sample pack. I have been printing a lot of photographs recently. I also plan on using the art paper to make prints of my original paintings. This is a great mixture of papers to experiment with while selecting what is needed for both my photographs and artwork. Choosing the correct paper to display prints of original paintings is critical in capturing the right essence of the artwork. The least expensive option is purchasing a sample pack to find the best paper for displaying framed prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great spread of Epson fine art paper I ordered this pack to feel out the Epson product line and see what kind of paper I would like. I would suggest using this pack for a page of test prints of your favorite images on each type of paper so that you can decide which paper you like for your kind of printing. For me this was a one-time purchase though- once you know, you don't need this variety again. It's a bit pricey, but the quality of paper is worth it and if you're serious about printing, this is a sound investment. Make sure your printer/ink is compatible before purchase though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to figure out which paper is best for your images This was a great way to see how my images looked on a variety of papers without having to invest in a lot of larger packs of a single type. The only problem I really had is that they are Epson papers and there are no printer profiles to use with them if you are not using an Epson photo printer, which means color management and soft proofing are really impossible.
