Olympus EP-9 reviews

EP-9 Eyecup for VF-2 Viewfinder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice add-on I been using VF-2 ever since I got my E-PL1. It was steep enough to buy VF-2 to begin with but I never appreciated the eye cup came with VF-2. When I finally I saw the release I order it from here. ... I have to say they should made this piece FREE to already owner of VF-2!! At least with this you can have better shoot on day light or have better fit. With this, you can not use your glasses as cuts off some view but if you want you can. With glasses off, your eye fits well in the cup and all the lights are out ! It is must for VF-2

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eyecup is great once attached I live in the SW USA and do a lot of outdoor photography. The sun is intense and most camera LCDs and EVFs can be unseeable in the very bright ambient light we experience here. I bought the EP-9 eyecup to use on the VF-2 Olympus viewfinder which stays attached to my E-P3. It really helps in seeing the EVF in bright daylight. It was difficult to attach and I tried on three different occasions before I got it to stay on the viewfinder. If you get one, be patient when attaching it and don't expect to switch it out often with the standard rubber eyepiece. However the struggle is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I had read that it was very hard to put on the viewfinder. The trick is to soften the rubber by manipulating it before you attempt to install it. You can do that just by squeezing it several times until you feel it becomes much more pliable than when it comes out of the box. There are three index indentations that you must align to secure it correctly, look at the instruction sheet before install it and it should fit without a problem. Its really a very worthwhile addition to the viewfinder, I use it with a LEICA X2.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EP-9 Eyecup The eyecup for the VF-2 should be standard equipment with the viewfinder. To charge extra for it is just wrong. This is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. Having said that, this is the perfect (only) eyecup for the VF-2, and makes the viewfinder far more useable. May be a bit of a challenge to use for those with glasses. It is also tricky to fit onto the eyepiece, but that will make it (hopefully) that much harder to lose. If you've got the VF-2, you should get the EP-9.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eyecup for Olympus PEN Viewfinder Only a small product so here is a small review. It looks like any eyecup from the last 50 years of photography so why isn't it included as standard on the VF-2? Olympus made a choice for you about size vs frequency of use. The VF-2 is quite small and fits into the tiniest of pouches. The eyecup makes it significantly bigger which has a good chance of tarnishing the experience of handling the very compact PEN cameras. I got the eyecup not to block out more light, but to block wind, but this may not be needed for everybody. The quality is fine - it's not hard to mess up the manufacture of a single piece of rubber. The installation is a tight fit and is not intended to be a daily routine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does Its Job It really helps take glare from peripheral vision and allows clear focus on the subject in the viewfinder. I really appreciate the thing. But be careful in installing it. Be sure to line up the slots on the eyecup with the fins on the viewfinder. It won't fit well if you don't. In any case, it's a bit of a struggle to get it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have come standard with the VF-2 Essential accessory for the VF-2 viewfinder. Blocks out surrounding light completely and makes the EVF bright and clearly readable even when shooting in strong sun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do! The eye relief/exit pupil of the VF-2 is so great I must hold the eyepiece about 3/8 inch from my eye and hence suffered an unsteady grip (not against face). The EP-9 Eyecup handily solved that problem by providing a comfy rubber cushion to seat the camera against my face and blocks stray light to boot. Yes, it should cost a lot less but it works perfectly. It was a bit tricky to install (line up indents and squeeze on) but was only 5 minutes of toil.
