The Zunow PL-5D Mount enables the use of many cinematic PL-mount lenses — from manufacturers such as Zeiss, Cooke, and Angénieux — with your Canon 5D Mark II or 7D DSLR camera. No modification to the camera is necessary. The PL-5D, which contains a high-quality optical glass element, attaches to the EF mount of the Canon DSLR and accepts a PL-mount lens with a rear protrusion of the optical element of 19mm or less.
Lens Compatibility
Zunow's current compatibility list includes many PL lenses from Cooke (S4/i and Panchro primes), Zeiss (Master Primes, Ultra Primes, and Compact Primes), RED (Pro Primes and zooms) and Angénieux (Optimo 15-40mm). The PL-5D accommodates a PL lens whose rear element protrudes past the rear lens-mount flange by no more than 19mm. (A live test for the compatibility of any particular lens is recommended.)
Optical Performance
The high quality optical glass inside the PL Mount generates a perfect 35mm circle of light around a full-frame sensor. This lets you film with your Canon 5D without any distortion or loss of DOF (depth of field). The PL-5D does not change the focal length of the PL-mount lens when you use it with the Canon 5D. With the 7D, the PL lens produces the same 1.6 crop factor that EF lenses produce.
No Modifications Necessary
Previous PL-mount solutions for the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D required extensive modifications to the DSLR's body, resulting in a void of the camera's warranty. The Zunow PL-5D enables the use of PL mount lenses with no modifications to the DSLR and no void of the warranty.
V-Lock Support
The included V-Lock support system attaches to the bottom of your camera to support the PL-5D and help support the heavier PL-mount lens that will be attached to the camera. The V-Lock also enables you to mount the DSLR to any quick-release tripod adapter.
