Bosch F.01U.164.928 Overview

The Bosch Digital Video Storage Array (16-bay, 8-HDD, 8TB) is a fully-featured RAID 5 disk array that features 16 bays for 8 hot-swappable 3 Gbps SATA-II hard disk drives. It has other hot-swappable components such as drive trays, power supply units, and cooling modules, which can be replaced within the cable-free modular chassis, while the system is operational.

Designed for expansion, the Digital Video Storage Array is ideal when large capacities are needed per NVR/DVR as it features dual-stack connectors that allow for daisy chaining of disk-arrays. In addition, the dual host capacity offers cost-effectiveness as it allows 2 DVRs to share 1 DVSA disk array. With complete RAID 5 protection and SATA-II hard drives, the DVSA is suitable for applications where there is a requirement of high-level data availability.

The Digital Video Storage Array alerts the user with an audible alarm in event of a failure. Depending on the infrastructure, it allows system managers to choose channels such as email, fax, LAN broadcast, SNMP traps, MSN Messenger, and SMS messages to receive status updates.

Featuring lockable drive trays on front-panel, the Digital Video Storage Array allows up to 16 channels to be routed through the backplane board. Problems associated with cable connections are eliminated as the DVSA has a backplane-based design that is entirely cable-free. Data loss during a power failure is prevented, as each unit has a BBU (Battery Back Up), and RAID protection is ensured by hot rebuild and numerous fault correction mechanisms. Multiple RAID configurations are supported by the array and each of the configurations has its own write policy, stripe size, and optimization modes.

The Digital Video Storage Array features the Java-based RAIDWatch Manager that simplifies process of array configuration. Ethernet port allows for local and remote management, and systems administrator can deploy, configure, manage and monitor multiple storage subsystems, locally or remotely. In addition, administrators can also manage multiple Bosch DVSAs from a single workstation as it supports WAN/LAN.
