Nice design, good quality. Does everything I need and is the right size for a DSLR movie cam rig. Light as a feather but solid build.

great matte box

This is a great matte box. Will fit my needs real well. The only reason i dont give it five stars because the adapter to fit my Sony hxr-nx70u did not work. The camera lens housing prevented the outside threads from making contact with the inside threads of my lens. But this was corrected by a uv clear filter adapter.

I am planning to get a few Sigma Lenses most are 82mm, But the Sigma 105mm 1.4 ART for my Sony has 105mm front threads, This says 105mm and an 82mm adaptor in box... Can it work on Sigma's 105mm Lens?
Asked by: Andrea
Yes, your 105mm lens will fit because the matte box comes with a wide angle extension that will fit the 105mm lens.

question

It says in the description that this mattebox works with a rod system or with the adapter rings. The pictures do not show any connectivity to rods- is that an extra accessory? Is the description wrong? Can it connect to 15mm rods?
Asked by: Anonymous
This matte box, with an additional part, can be used on 15mm rods as is stated the B&H Overview. Here is the part Genustech GL GSP-400-038 Matte Box Adaptor B&H # GEGLGSP40003. We apologize for any confusion.

We can say you will be good on full frame camera down to 24mm. Depending on the lens, you may be able to go wider.

Can I put this matte box on a Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 Lens?
Asked by: Farris
The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 25mm f/0.95 would be better suited in a mattebox with a donut for easier mounting, like this one, which is still 4x4:https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1483451-REG/camtree_mb_cms_camshade_video_matte_box.html

question

How does this attach to the lens without rod support?
Asked by: Chris M.
It is straight forward if you have a lens with a 77mm filter thread. Screw on the 77mm adapter ring. You then clamp the matte box to the ring. If you have other sized lens, you can use rings that adapt to the 77mm ring.
