Night Owl DVR-FS Overview

The Night Owl 8-channel H.264 Network DVR offers 8-channel BNC video input supporting 8-camera input feed, and provides H.264 video compression allowing you to achieve high-video quality at low data rates.

Supporting motion activated, continuous, time scheduled, and sensor activated recording modes the 8-channel H.264 Network DVR offers an array of recording options. Incorporating an easy motion detection mask, the DVR allows you to configure it to ignore high movement areas such as roads or trees. Augmented motion detection features prevent the triggering of false motion alarms.

Integrating Triplex technology, the 8-channel H.264 Network DVR allows you to simultaneously record, playback, and view DVR output remotely. You can securely record, playback, and view the footage from anywhere in the world over the internet via Internet Explorer 6 or higher versions, allowing you to turn any computer screen into a surveillance hub. A password protection feature allows only authorized users to access the DVR, locally or remotely. Also supported is the record, playback, and view feature on selected 3G enabled mobile phones such as the iPhone, Windows Mobile, or Symbian OS based phones.

You can backup your important data on a flash drive or a USB hard disk via the USB 2.0 port. An overwrite protection feature enables you to record important video data even when the hard disk has reached its maximum storage capacity by replacing the oldest file with the most recent one. A SATA HDD of up to 1TB is supported for use with the DVR. Playback options include event, time and data based playback. RS-485, Pelco-P, and Pelco-D based Pan/Tilt/Zoom control is also integrated into the 8-channel H.264 Network DVR. Network access is possible via the included Ethernet cable using the RJ-45 enabled network interface supported by TCP/IP, DDNS, UDP, DHCP, and PPOE protocols.

The 8-channel H.264 Network DVR has a Linux-based icon interface, and offers easy access to all its features via mouse or remote control. A BNC to RCA video output cable allows you to connect the DVR output directly to the television set, and a VGA output jack allows you to connect the DVR directly to a computer monitor or TV with a VGA input.

You are offered a composite 8-camera display mode allowing you to view the output of all the 8 cameras together on one screen while also providing the option of viewing the output of any camera in full screen. A display resolution of VGA (1024 x 768 or 800 x 600) / BNC (704 x 480), and a recording resolution of D1 (704 x 480) / HD1 (704 x 240) / CIF (352 x 240) is supported by the DVR.
