    Sigma EF-610 DG Super reviews

EF-610 DG Super Flash for Sony/Minolta Cameras is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not compatible with A77 The positive reviews for this flash must be based on only the most basic functions. On my A77, the flash had to be in FP mode for correct exposure, but FP was canceled when the head was tilted or swiveled, resulting in over-exposures. Direct flash exposures were inconsistent as well. The test button and modeling light worked only when the flash was not on the camera. I returned it to Sigma and they sent it back to Japan because their replacement units worked the same way. Eventually they sent me a replacement that was recalibrated for bounce, but direct flash exposures were wrong. I returned it again and finally received a refund -- apparently an admission that Sigma could not make the flash work with the A77. At least they stood behind their product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Compatibility issue with Sony A77 I just received this flash recently and started playing with it using my Sony A77. I tried TTL mode with camera auto setting, and this makes photos always over-exposed. Then switched to Manual camera setting but kept TTL for the flash; for the few first shots, I managed to expose properly my photos, then for some unknown reasons, using same setup, my photos became very under-exposed?! weird!? The build quality of this flash is average; the bounce card doesn't stay in position and slides in as soon as I tilt the flash 90deg vertically. It also happened to me few times when I open the battery compartment, the lid just comes in my hand free. So now I learned to gently open it and be carefully, because it is a bit of pain to put it back in place. The recycle time is so long! I am using 2850mAh fully charged battery and sometimes takes 7-8 seconds to recharge. The zoom motor is so slow and creeps like hell! Sadly, I ordered this product before another customer posted his review regarding incompatibility with A77.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It almost has too much power It almost has too much power , what I like is the fact in auto the ttl is great, only had it for a few weeks.A few pictures had too much flash until I tried to swivel the flash head side to side. That did the trick. As soon as it was hooked on to the shoe, the af and the ttl responded in sink. It's not to heavy,it fits in my camera bag nicely. It works exceptionally well in total darkness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic value for the price I own Nikon strobes and have had the top of the line Sony on camera flash which cost $ when I purchased it about 2 years ago. This flash unit has all the movements of the much pricier Sony and is very powerful. Recycle time is quite fast. It appears solidly made as well. You can not purchase a flash as good as this under $ from any manufacturer. Way to go Sigma!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delivers on it's promises Powerful and simple to use. At first, the instructions looked daunting but just mount it on the camera and play. Great results and simplex. However, no battery orientation shown on the flash..need to observe the contact pattern in the battery pocket for orientation. I feel the instruction sheet could be better and offer more usage tips for a beginner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used only once so far I purchased this for school play and of course for other events. Haven't had it very long. It really put the light where I needed it. As in the past when went to school functions my flash that is built on my camera, I would take pictures (but it was a waste of time),as subjects weren't visible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sigma EF-610 DG Super Flash Delivers I purchased the Sigma EF-610 DG Super Flash to shoot a wedding and I was pleasantly surprised by its ease of use and versatility. Gone were those annoying shadows replaced by subtle lighting and beautiful colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice flash but.... The flash is great for on the camera purposes. As soon as I take it off the camera that it is supposed to be wireless compatable with (Sony A77) it will not work. It works great on the camera but thats it.
