Broncolor RFS 2.1 Transceiver Overview

The Broncolor RFS 2.1 Transceiver is an ideal way to eliminate PC cords while adding wireless functionality to your studio or work in the field.

The transmitter slides onto your camera hotshoe or connects to shoeless cameras via the included sync cord. The RFS 2.1 has 40 discrete channels to choose from; more than enough to eliminate interference or overlap in multi-photographer events. 99 studio addresses are available. Besides a test button, the transmitter provides power up / down buttons to regulate the output in full stop or 1/10 stop increments on flash units controlled by it. The easy-to-read LCD display shows channel, studio address and power status of the system.

Operating range is an impressive 656' (200 m) outdoors and 164' (50 m) indoors. It weighs a mere 1.5 oz (43g) and is powered by a single 3V CR2450 battery. The RFS 2.1 is compatible with RFS series monolights with built-in receivers or Broncolor or other brand packs or heads employing the optional RFS 2.1 receiver.

Convenient, lightweight, and compatible with RFS-equipped heads and all pack and monolight units used in conjunction with an RFS 2.1 receiver.
Minimal power consumption and independent operability at up to 99 workstations, 40 coded frequency channels.
Optional USB power supply input for battery-less operation.

Will this transceiver work with Leica M10 and offer HSS?

This transmitter is compatible with all standard type hot shoes, but does not support HS flash and will sync at the camera's designated X-sync speed. No dedicated HS transmitter is available for Leica at this time.

question

Does this do HSS with Sony cameras? or is it just Canon and Nikon?
Asked by: Ben B.
This transceiver does not offer HSS with any Canon, Nikon, or Sony camera. It would fire any Broncolor strobe with a built in or connected RFS receiver. A strobe head such as the Broncolor Siros L 800Ws Battery-Powered Monolight B&H # BRS800LWFR2B would offer a short flash duration with the use of this remote as a way of stopping action. Please see the image below for reference.

Either RFS2.1 or 2.2 NIkon is suitable and fully compatible with the X1D with the major difference being size, battery (coin-cell on 2.1, AA on 2.2) and control interface, the choice is yours.

Does this work with Canon?
Asked by: John
Yes, this is a "Universal" transmitter and should work with most Canon cameras with a standard hot shoe. For a more specific Canon experience please consider the RFS 2.2 remote for Canon (B-36.160.00).
