The Heil Sound PR 22 UT is a handheld cardioid dynamic microphone designed for articulate reproduction of vocals, speech, instruments, amplifier cabinets, and drums in studios, clubs, houses of worship, and live stage applications. Though sonically identical to the PR 22, the PR 22 UT sports a stainless steel grille in place of the PR 22's interchangeable silver, black, and gold grilles. The dynamic microphone element features a composite magnet for increased strength and a cardioid polar pattern, which provides significant rear rejection and immunity to feedback. With a 145 dB maximum SPL and a frequency response of 50 Hz to 18 kHz, it is well suited to a wide variety of sources.
The patent-pending ISO BAND isolation mounting impedes handling noise and rumble from vibrations. Plosives and wind noise are attenuated via the included foam windscreen. The balanced XLR 3-pin output ensures compatibility with most microphone preamps, mixer inputs, portable PA systems, and audio interfaces. A mic clip and carrying bag are also included with the PR 20 UT.- Cardioid Polar Pattern
- Dynamic Element Requires No Power Source

Heil Sound PR 22 UT Reviews
Impressive Mic
Recently I was hired to do live sound for a ten member theatrical vocal choir. I used up all of my Beta 87A's and put up my two PR22s. Surprisingly the PR22 was easier to mix than my 87s. They were clearer, they cut through the mix and when the vocalist went off axis or backed off the mic- I was still able to hear the vocals easily. High praise, because the Shure 87 is no slouch of a mic, especially when you consider the price differential. Previously I had only used my PR22s alongside my Senn E835s in loud applications. No more.
Vocal Mic for Bose L1 Compact
I needed a vocal mic to pair with my Martin and Bose L1 Compact. I play a lot of small venues and have a pretty big voice. I LOVE the SM58, but always felt it colored my voice and took the edge off of my vocals. I finally settled on the Heil PR 22 and could not be happier. My vocals are obviously more clear and honest through this mic. I recommend this mic to any singer songwriter on a budget. You can't find a better mic for $.
