Rycote BBG Overview

The Rycote BBG Basket Windshield is designed to fit over the capsule end of a compatible microphone and provides up to 30 dB of wind-noise attenuation. This makes the Basket a suitable partner for compatible microphones in handheld situations (e.g., interview contexts) and for use whilst shockmounted with a Lyre suspension.

This low-profile wind diffuser is fashioned of the same materials as Rycote's larger windshields. But, rather than clipping onto the microphone suspension, this Basket mounts directly onto the microphone by means of a grommet. Thus, the capsule is completely enclosed within the windshield. This Basket measures 0.82" and accommodates microphones such as the Neumann KM100 series and more.

Cheap plastic netting broke within a few months

Got it for the Audio-Technica BP4025. Tight fit but worked until it broke. Way too expensive for 3d printed cheap plastic. And why wouldn't you build an extender for longer mics?

Correct size for AT-BP-4025 stereo field recording microphone is RYCO RY-BBG-22. This is the 22 mm size, .86 diameter. My RY-BBG-22 came with the rubber grommet reversed. Carefully remove it and re-install so that the rubber grommet collar is exterior to the round ball, not interior to it. Otherwise, the mic body exterior to the wind screen may be too short for your liking. And, the mic head may touch the top of the windscreen inside, setting up a mechanical link to the capsule, which is not a plus. . However, it will work with the grommet installed either way. Will it be compatible with the Inv 7 Shock Mount?

The windshield is not designed to accommodate any part of a shock-mount at all. it fits just over the end of the microphone. The Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension for Stand and Boompole Mounting will not interfere with using the Rycote Baby Ball Gag Windshield. Please see the product video that we have posted on our webpage for this product.

No, the Rycote 011002 BBG Windshield is not compatible for use with the RODE NT4 X/Y Stereo Condenser Microphone. For compatible wind protection to use with the NT4, we have the Rycote Mini Windjammer for Rode NT4 (B&H # RYMWRNT4), the RODE Dead Kitten Artificial Fur Wind Shield (B&H # RODEADKITTEN), and the RODE WS4 Windscreen for NT4 Microphone (B&H # ROWS4).

Will this end cap fit on the Rycote Windshield #4? They don't sell the individual replacement caps so I'm looking for a cheaper option.

The Rycote Baby Ball Gag Windshield will not work as replacement end cap for the Rycote windshield kit #4. You will require Rycote MFR # 018501. It is a replacement part (Mono Modular Windshield End Cap) sold at cost through their parts store.

The Rycote BBG Windshield is designed for use with larger pencil condenser and small-diaphragm condenser microphones and is not compatible for use with the Shure MOTIV MV88+ Digital Stereo Microphone.

This windshield has a diameter that is too large for the Tetramic. We do carry a model made specifically for the mic, which is the Rycote Modular Windshield TetraMic Kit, B&H # RY086047.

It van be attached to a Sony MS2 Microphone?

This Rycote Baby Ball Gag is designed to fit microphones with a shank diameter of 25mm. The Sony ECM-MS2 microphone has a 24mm diameter and it is 137mm long. The length is similar to the Sennheiser mics that are compatible, so it may work for the ECM-MS2. You may need to add another grommet or a little bit of padding for a tighter fit around the mic since the ECM-MS2 is 1mm thinner. We have not tested the Rycote BBG Windshield with the Sony mic to confirm that it will fit, but based on the dimensions, it may work.
