Vanguard QS-39 reviews

QS-39 Quick Release Plate is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Distasteful Worked great until I decided to eat it. The taste was very bad and I think I got the screw stuck between my teeth. I still rate this product with 5 stars because even I realise that the product wasn't actually made for consumption.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No ring...But does it's job I use this product on my Vanguard Tripod & Head. Overall it's a great product, I love the quality that Vanguard puts into their products. I started with Manfrotto, and have no reason to go back now. I gave this plate 4 starts because I don't constantly leave it on my Camera, and it's a pain to have to keep the little tool with me all the time, or a screwdriver to put it on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vanguardian! I'm using this to mount my 5Dmkii w/ batt grip and 70-200mm to my new Vanguard tripod ball head. It's like a cross between a quick release plate and a slide in locking plate. I'm not a fan of it not having a folding thumb screw. You need to use the included (with tripod) tool or a coin/screwdriver to tighten the mount screw. May not seem like a big issue to you, but I find that inevitably these require adjusting over time and needing to reach into my bag or pocket to find a tool... well, that's time and that's money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient and Functional I mount one of these on each lens with a tripod mount and each camera body I am using. They are light weight (I backpack with my camera gear), provide secure mounting on my carbon fiber tripod, and are quick to change. I need to carry a quarter to adjust or remove them but that's ok.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits well, but should have a ring The plate fits well, but has a small design fault: the screw has no ring, so if you need to screw if off the camera, you need a tool. I have hung a half a penny on the tripod for that. If you need to change it often, could be a pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quick Release System! There's not a lot to say about quick release systems - they either work or they don't. They're proprietary to the vendors who make the tripods and monopods. The QS-39 for Vanguard systems works.I have a Vanguard Tracker 4 tripod and a Vanguard Elite CP-324 monopod, each with its own SBH-100 ball head. Each has been used extensively throughout North America and other places. The largest lens I've used is a 600mm. Slide the plate onto the tripod, turn the lock screw on the ball head and done. To take off, loosen the lock screw, push the release button on the ball head and remove the lens or camera. There's not much more to say - you put the QS-39 on the bottom of your lens and/or camera body and tighten it up with a quarter. Each of my big lenses have a QS-39 installed as well as each body. It's part of a system and it works.Nicholas.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I will continue to use this product Ordered this to have a QRP for my F6 and D700 without having to swap between cameras. A robust design but I wish they would have made the attachment method tool-less. You need a coin at a minimum in order to tighten it to the camera base. I usually keep a penny or two in all of my camera bags for this very purpose. I have a different QRP for another tripod that is tool-less but it's not without issues either so there is no perfect design for these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Always carry an extra I purchased a new Vanguard tripod and head for macro photography. I love the tripod but but I didn't have it for even a day and I lost the quick release plate. It seemed to keep loosening up and I had tightened many times in the one day I had it. I have purchased 2 this time so I always have an extra. The new one has remained tight so far.
