The DSM-1 from Nady is a compact and lightweight digital sound pressure level meter that allows you to measure audio loudness practically anywhere. The meter has a built-in 0.5" omnidirectional electret condenser microphone that lets you measure audio in 2 ranges between 30dB and 130dB at frequencies from 32Hz to 8kHz. The meter has an easy-to-read 4-digit LCD display with a selectable permanent backlight for use in dark environments.
The meter offers selectable A or C weighting, plus fast or slow response. It has a maximum hold selector with a hold button to capture input at any time, perfect for unexpected sounds. It also offers an alarm to indicate when the input is above range. The meter operates on a single 9V battery that provides up to 50 hours of life. An internal battery tester lets you double-check your remaining power. A threaded insert lets you attach the meter to a standard camera tripod. The meter comes complete with a foam windscreen, a vinyl carrying case, and a battery.
