Although it's a bit of a gamble as to the ribbon tension out of the box, this is still a fine deal. My last one (I have 3) had a properly tensioned ribbon, but the other 2 arrived needing re-tensioning. Good candidate for transformer and ribbon mods, but sounds wonderful stock. Make sure your mic pre has plenty of gain and is happy with a 200 ohm microphone. Have had great results on drums overheads, strings, upright bass and horns.
